Looking for information on CALVEY, Matthew married to Mary SWEENEY. They came to NY from England prior to 1868 and settled in Avoca sometime after that. I found them in Avoca in 1910 but I think they were here in the 1880's. They had a son Daniel CALVEY who married Mary Houston in 1888 in Avoca. Bernadette
All surnames listed here: Ford, McClymer, Cunningham, McHugh, Dobson, Moran, Scott, Roscoe, Borkowski James Ford was born in PA in 1860. A researcher on the list has suggested the possibility of Schuykill Co, but I haven't had the opportunity to prove or disprove that. By 1881 he was married to Bridget ??? (b 1862 in Ireland) and they were living in Avoca, where they would continue to live until sometime after 1900. In the 1910 census they are found in Minooka, and I believe that both of them were dead before 1920, possibly in the flu epidemic that killed two of their daughters: 1. Elizabeth C (1881-c1918) m. Peter McClymer (1878-1943), son of Peter & Bridget Cunningham McClymer of Dunmore 2. Mary (1885-1918) m. Anthony McHugh of Minooka. They apparently had many children that I don't know abt or Anthony remarried & had additional children after 1920, as Gerald's 1989 obituary said that he was survived by one sister (Alice) & preceded in death by 11 siblings. In 1920 Anthony & the following four children were living with his sister & brother-in-law, James & Julia Dobson: a. Alice McHugh (1909-1996) m. Frank A Moran (1908-1989), son of Frank & Margaret Scott Moran b. Anthony McHugh (c1912) c. Joseph McHugh (c1914) d. Gerald McHugh (1916-1989) m. Hello Listers. I am at a dead-end on this entire family. Allison MCKELVEY was born in Scranton, November 12, 1852, and died April 1, 1943 in Animas City, CO. No known parents! Minnie KELTOW or KITTNER was born in Scranton, August 22, 1865, and died December 2, 1927, in Kline, CO, buried in Marvel, CO. Her father was either Heinrch Adolf KELTOW or KITTNER, born about 1830 in Prussia. He married Eleonore Wilhelmina RAABE or VON ROBBIN, born in Berlin, Germany. She is buried in Marvel, CO, as Wilhelmina ROBBIN KELTOW. We wonder if they changed their surname from KITTNER to KELTOW. The children born to Heinrich and Wilhelmina were Bertha, Hilda, Flora, Ann, Minnie, and Enica or Enciline, and also they had two sons. Bertha, I think, was the only other child born in Scranton. The rest were born in Germany. Not much to go on... I have some of the descendants of this couple, Allison and Minnie. Thanks, Kathy

Get your FREE download of MSN Explorer at http://explorer.msn.com

I am a descendant of Joseph Moss 1765-1850 who came to Bloomingdale, Ross twp around 1790. My lines are tangled in Luzerne Co and especially the Huntington Valley west of Shickshinny. I have three WILKINSON lines all descending from Jonathon Sr. and Elizabeth Worden Wilkinson of Litchfield Co, Connecticut. I have two MOORE lines descending from William and Dorcas Kerr Moore of Chester Co and Cecil Co, Maryland, coming to McKendree, Union twp abt 1799. William was a Rev War vet serving under Washington for more than three years. I have two DOWNING lines descending from Daniel Sr. and Hannah Adams Downing. Daniel and Hannah were from Windham Co, Connecticut. Daniel's father Jonathan early bought shares in the Connecticut Susquehanna Company. Daniel survived the Battle of Wyoming and the subsequent flight back to Connecticut. Hannah Adams' father Solomon had a cousin John who became President of the United States. I have two MELLICK lines that are Palentine, originally coming from New Jersey to Waterton, Huntington twp. My GREGORY line is descended from Peter Sr. and Mary Susannah Gerhart Gregory. Peter was a Rev War veteran and settled about 1786 at the western foot of Shickshinny Mt. Peter died in 1790 and Mary Susannah married Isaac Benscoter, forever entangling my family with the large Benscoter family. My Elisha RICHARDS was killed at the Battle of Wyoming. His widow with the five children fled back to Connecticut. Oldest daughter Rebecca married in CT the Rev War veteran Stephen ROBERTS who then came to settle in Ross twp about 1799. William BRANDON came late to the Huntington Valley, about 1804, and settled near what is Harveyville. He had immigrated from Ireland with mother and brothers. Some of the brothers went to Illinois. I have many other cousins and lines in the Huntington Valley. Hope to find new cousins. Linda Moss MossLJ@aol.com
