Don't have children of their marriage either. I saw obits for her parents that listed her as "Lizzie Lenahan" and also as "Mrs. Andrew J. Lenahan". That's where all my Lenahan info came from. If I find a connection, I'll let you know. If you find one, please let me know. Elizabeth was my great grandfather's sister. Debbie Sullivan Allen

    1. [PALUZERN] Searching for ancestors of Gertrude Kemp
    2. S. A. Rankin
    3. Gertrude Kemp b. 19 Apr 1886, d. 23 May 1950 (both in W-B) m. 01 May 1904 to Daniel Dillon (1882-aft. 1950) f: Fred Kemp, b. in England m: Elizabeth Rowe, b. in PA I'm searching for KEMPs who lived in W-B in the 1880s. My g-grandmother was Gertrude Kemp, b. 1886, and her parents were Fred Kemp and Elizabeth Rowe. When Gertrude married Daniel Dillon, consent for the marriage was given by a "William Kemp". He is listed as Gertrude's "brother and guardian". This would seem to indicate that Fred must have been deceased by then or he would have been the one to give his consent. There's a Gertrude "Camp" in the 1900 census, living with her mother Elizabeth Camp a widow, in the 1900 census. This Elizabeth was the mother of six children, only one of whom was still living. This matches up with the family story that says Gertrude was an "only child", but not the "brother William" who consented to her marriage. I have found a number of Kemps in the W-B records but haven't been able to connect them to Gertrude yet. 1880 US Census, Pennsylvania, Luzerne county, Pittston township Kemp, Elizabeth,60,h,w,widow,Ire,Ire,Ire,noR/W Kemp, Edward,22,m,w,son,miner,Ire,Ire,Ire 1890 City Directory Fred Kemp, elevator operator, bds at 137 E. Gertrude's father, Fred, was reportedly born in England, so that part matches up.) Any information on the Kemp family during this time period would be extremely helpful. 1. [PALUZERN] SS. Peter & Paul Cemetery Records, Plains
    2. Cheryl
    3. Hello everyone, Does anybody know who would have the cemetery records for SS. Peter & Paul Church in Plains? Interment records? Etc..? My Problem; I am looking for someone (family) buried there, Thomas & Alexandria Kubowski (immig. from Poland ca.1907, they lived in Plains), he and his wife have a stone with their name and the birth year - death year on the stone. In speaking with Thomas' son, he says his father died in 1929, which is the year on the stone. He also remembers the month of death as being in July. So in setting forth to recover the death certificate, it came back as "NO - RECORD CERTIFICATION." It continued to say, "that no original record of this death is registered." What exactly does this mean? His father supposedly died in an explosion in the mines. He was using that igniting 'paper' and it didn't go off, so he went in after some time to see why, and it went off. This is what he remembers. So I checked into the newspapers for July 1929 for a story or an obituary and found nothing!!! Nothing for July or any of the other 11 months in that year. What am I doing wrong? What am I forgetting? What should I do next? I thought if they buried him there they should have the record of it, right? Can some kind soul help me, please? ~ Cheryl

I believe my grandparents were married in 1903, in the Hazleton area. Several of my grandmother's family had lived there also at that time. My grandmother's family were Greek Catholic. Michael Noga was Roman Catholic. Does anyone know what churches were in the area at that time? The family lived in Hazleton where my grandfather worked in the mines. Three children were born there: Mary in 1904, Elizabeth in 1905, and Agnes in 1907. Does anyone have access to marriage license information for the 1903-1904 time frame or any information about this family? Any information would be greatly appreciated. 3. I am researching the following two families who lived in Hazleton (most likely the Cranberry area) in the early 1900's - possibly even as early as the 1890's. The mothers in these families were sisters, Greek Catholics who immigrated from the village of Nizna Rybnica in eastern Slovakia. Their family name was GLIGANIC, variously spelled GLIGANICH, GLIGANICS, GLIGONIC, GLAGONICH, and so on. GALLO family: The parents' names were John and Helen. The family name may originally have been GALYO. The names of the children that are known so far are Margaret, Helen, Mary, Joseph, John, and George. It is known that Margaret was born in Cranberry in 1907. Her married name was Margaret KIMMEL, and she died in 1998 in Lehighton. CHURA family: The father's name was John. The names of the mother and children are unknown. There is a slight possibility that the family name might have been spelled CSURA or CZURA. In addition, I am researching a family named HARVILCAK (also spelled HARVILCHAK) who came to the United States from Slovakia in 1902. The parents' names were John and Elizabeth. Elizabeth's maiden name has been given as CIEBERY and SEABERRY. The children were John, Mary, George, and Michael. It seems that the Harvilcaks may have originally settled in the Hazleton/McAdoo area. By 1912, George had moved to Jerome. He married Susan PETRANIC (also spelled PETRANICH). George and Susan changed their family name to HARRIS shortly after they were married. They lived in Windber until their deaths in the 1970's. Any assistance you can give in obtaining more information about these families will be greatly appreciated. Marie Petranic Power jmpower@mindspring.com
