Marjorie Knarr2 Bone, born October 21, 1906 in Nanticoke, Pennsylvania. + 3 ii. Charles Alfred Bone , Jr., born December 29, 1912; died 1972 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. + 4 iii. John Henry Bone, born April 21, 1914 in Nanticoke, Pennsylvania; died September 12, 1997 in Jersey Shore, PA. Generation No. 2 2. Marjorie Knarr2 Bone (Charles Alfred1) was born October 21, 1906 in Nanticoke, Pennsylvania. She married Charles Jonas Kistler June 12, 1938 in Lake Silkworth, Pennsylvania, son of Seth Kistler , Sr. Nanticoke was a mining town and filled with saloons. This is a letter written to my mother, Marjorie Elizabeth Engle Hart/Nevin and my Uncle Sheldon Engle on Dec. 21, 1959 Kingston, by Marjorie Bone Kistler. Dear Marge and Shel, Your Mother's side: Amanda Kanarr: Mother: Martha Devens (Mother:Amanda (Lytle) Devens)(Father:Ezra Devens) Father: David Kanarr (Mother: Elizabeth (Mock) Kanarr)(Father: Abe Kanarr) David Kanarr had 2 brothers: William and Abraham and 3 sisters: Elizabeth (Henry) Pace, Mary (Thomas) Klein, Rachel (Fiske). David was youngest. Granpa Kanarr was a miller. He worked at Schooley's mill in Luzerne. He had a farm on Bunker Hill. All grandchildren went up and drove cows to and from barn in town. Granpa K. owned most of Main St. in Luzerne but went on somebody's bail and lost it all - for which Grandma K never forgave him. Thomas Klein (Mary's husband) bought in 1 house from Granpa K's estate (which he lost - see above) and let Grandma K. live in it. Your mother and mine and Grandma Devens (Wagner) lived in the other side and paid Grandma K. $5.00 a month rent. Grandpa David Kanarr (our mother's father) was killed in mines - rock fall - when my mother was 10 years old and yours 71/2 years. Another little sister (Alverda) died of diphtheria about 2 years after Grandpa died. Grandma Devens (Wagner) kept family together by going out by day working and so did my mother. Grandma earned 50 cents a day and my mother received 25 cents a day. They took in boarders and did washing. (There was no compensation from mines in those days and Grandma was very proud and would not accept help from her brothers because "she wasn't going to let them dictate to her!".) Amanda (Lytle) Devens and Grandpa Ezra lived back on "the old farm" in sweet Valley which he bought with money he received for going to war for somebody else. ( You've read how the could do that.) - 100 acres. Grandma Devens (Wagner's) brother Dan bought the farm from descendents - all but 25 acres which Grandma Wagner kept ( her share from her father) and which she asked us never to sell while we lived. That 25 acres belongs now to your family and mine. (You remember receiving your apportionment of some timber money about 30 years ago.) Nothing has been made on the old farm since. It rents for $36.00 a year and the taxes are 35 something. Grandma Wagner thought Grandpa Lytle was Irish - she wasn't sure. They came from Edwardsville - she thinks. Great - Great Grandma (Devens? Lytle) kept an Inn in Edwardsville and died by falling on stone (stroke) while cooking half a lamb. She was then 101 years old. Grandma Devens (Wagner) married for the second time (Fred Miner Wagner) when about 50. She then lived at Pritchards Corner where Sheldon used to visit. After Grandpa Wagner died she came to live with us in Nanticoke and was there when she died on May 13, 1934. She was buried in Trucksville ( the White Church on the Hill) in the plot with Grandpa David Kanarr. Your mother, Amanda married in the summer of 1894 or 1895 and moved to Luzerne. (She had been living in Nanticoke with my mother, and father and Grandma). They (Amanda and Will - William Charles Engle, Jr.) lived over a drug store there - where Sheldon was born (1900). Your father worked in his Uncle's foundry in Luzerne. Later they moved to Wilkes-Barre and then to Wellsboro where Uncle Will was a molder in a foundry. From there they moved to Elizabeth, NJ. On your father's side the information is very meager. The Engles lived in Luzerne. Mother doesn't remember much about them except that they went for a walk every night and Mr. Engle was so bowlegged. He worked in his brother's welding factory in Luzerne. Children of Marjorie Bone and Charles Kistler are: I have this information. 3. Charles Alfred2 Bone , Jr. (Charles Alfred1) was born December 29, 1912, and died 1972 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. He married Ida. Child of Charles Bone and Ida is: 8 i. Carole3 Bone, born January 01, 1945. She married Thomas Milnes. 4. John Henry2 Bone (Charles Alfred1) was born April 21, 1914 in Nanticoke, Pennsylvania, and died September 12, 1997 in Jersey Shore, PA. He married Jessie Slayton Green December 18, 1943 in Jersey Shore, Pennsylvania, daughter of Paul Green and Nellie Gheen. Children of John Bone and Jessie Green are: I have this information. 1. [PALUZERN] BEHLING, HARTIG, LEARN,Elam WILLIAMS
    2. These connected families, except for WILLIAMS, have roots in Germany. I'm hoping someone else has had some luck in tracing these roots back there. Henry BEHLING, was the immigrant, don't know when he came, nor his wife's maiden name, for sure. It might be BERGOLD. They settled in Wilkes Barre, where I found them on the 1870 census with their 8 children. Their son, Henry, was born in 1862 and died in 1931 in White Haven. He married Kate HARTIG in 1884. She was the daughter of Zachariah HARTIG, who was also born in Germany. Zachariah HARTIG arrived in this country in 1857 through the port of Baltimore, but he wasn't naturalized until 1880 and that was in Luzerne Co. His sponsor was Heinreich HARTIG. No one in the family knows what relationship they were. They ended up in White Haven, also. Katie BEHLING, was the daughter of Henry and Kate mentioned above. She married Fred WILLIAMS, a son of Elam WILLIAMS and Susannah LEARN. Elam and Susannah were from Monroe Co. PA., but lived in White Haven for some years and died there. Any help would be greatly appreciatedl Pattye Williams

    3. Looking for any and all info on Donald BITTENBENDER [ nickname Dyke]. I don't have much on him. He was from Hazelton. He was born around 1900 probably and probably in Hazelton. He married [don't know where or exactly when]Kathryn Crossin of Neshquahoning in Carbon County, PA[ her family I have more on]. Donald and Kathryn were both muscians and toured with the Dorsey Brothers and other Big Bands. Donald died around 1943, but I haven't a clue where or where he might be buried. Family rumor has it that Donald's father was George Bittenbender and that George was the mayor of Hazelton at some point. Edwin Peter (my line) m Eva Mackey TURNER dau. of Franklyn Varney TURNER Casimir had a brother, Jacob b 1826 Bavaria, GER, and there was a Jacob HARTMAN as a witness to the wedding so am assuming this was his brother. Casimir emigrated at the age of 9/10 so must have come with an older sibling. 3. Hi everyone, I'm primarily researching the family of Capt. Joseph FULLER and his wife, Zerviah HILL Fuller, who moved to Luzerne Co. from CT about 1792/3. They are known to have lived in the Plymouth, Kingston, and Huntsville areas; some of their descendants also moved to the Idetown area. I'm descended from their grandson, Stephen FULLER (s/o Joshua FULLER and Sibyl CHAMPION), who m. Anna Hamilton PRATT 1822 in Dallas. I'm especially looking for the parents of Sibyl Champion and Anna Pratt. This family intermarried frequently with WORTHINGTON, BULKELEY, REYNOLDS and GAYLORD families (among others) in addition to the PRATT, CHAMPION, and HILL connections listed above. I'm also investigating a possible family connection to PRINGLE. The time period I'm particularly interested in is roughly 1790-1840. Stephen Fuller and family were in Lee Co., IL by 1839, and I know that other family members also ended up there and in California. If you have connections to or further information about the above families, please contact me. More detailed information about this Fuller line can be found on my web site at www.geocities.com/rmpopma/genealogy/fuller.html Thanks! Cheers, Rachel Rachel M.
