    1. [PALUZERN] Bias, Fatula, Lucash, Zuber
    2. Hi everyone, I'm new to the list and I'm hoping that someone might able to assist me on finding some info on my family that settled in Luzerne County. I'm looking for family of Andrew Fatula, my g-g grandfather who was born in Hungary (I'm unsure of the town and time of his birth) Andrew married Mary Bias(Bajus-Biajus-Bayus-Bijus-- as it may have been spelled in the old country). Mary Bias Fatula was born Nov, 1876 in Baranec ?, Zemplen ?, Hungary and her mother was Mary Lucash Bias who died about 1906 in Sheppton, Pa. Mary Lucash Bias came to the U.S but her husband died in Hungary. I don't know if she had any other children other then Mary but if so I don't know if they came to the U.S or stayed behind in Hungary. Andrew and Mary Bias Fatula married at St. Mary's Greek Catholic Church in Freeland, Pa on July 15, 1899 but settled in Eckley, Pa, a mining town, and had about 10 children. Their oldest daughter my great grandmother Mary Fatula was born on June 11, 1901 in Eckely, Pa married Stephen Zuber 1 who was born in Gribov, Czech on Jan 28, 1898 and they married 4 children. Stephen had an older brother John Zuber (Jan 15, 1896- May10, 1971) who came to the U.S in 1910 and later settled in Erie and where he was married to Anna Krempa Zuber and they had George, Andrew, Michael, John Jr, and Ann Zuber Machinski. Stephen's parents were Butchko and Tanka Zuber, though I am unsure of the name spellings, and there also was another brother Michael who stayed in Czech and a sister Julia Zuber Kozar who settled in West Virginia. If anyone has any info on any of the people I listed I would be grateful for the info. Thanks, Missy Zuber Atco, NJ Researching in Luzerne Pa.... Bias(Bajus-Biajus-Bayus-Bijus) Fatula Lucash Zuber (now some who reside in south jersey)

    1. [PALUZERN] Any volunteers?
    2. Deb Kohl
    3. Hi List, I have been researching my father's family for quite a few years now and very seldom do I find anything online about them. They almost all come from Hanover or Dorrance or Wilkes Barre. Thanks to Ed in Phoenix, I got a death date for one of the son's of my oldest ancestors in the U.S. I was wondering if anyone could check and see if there is a will for him. His name is George RINEHIMER and he died about March13, 1886 and was a resident of Dorrance Township. I would of course pay for the copies or if you can give me an address to write and get the information, that would work too. I'm also in need of finding out if there are any property records for George's father, Conrad REINHEIMER/RINEHIMER. I haven't been able to find any death record or cemetery record for him and rumor has it that he died in approx. 1820. He and family lived mostly in the Hanover area. And if you could refresh my memory as to the date when marriages were recorded, I'd appreciate that too. I believe Conrad's wife, Anna Maria KOCHER RINEHIMER could possibly have married again after his death. Any help would be much appreciated. Thank you. Deb RINEHIMER KOHL IOWA

    1. [PALUZERN] Fitch Cemetery
    2. We are in the process of compiling information about the history of Fitch Cemetery located in Wyoming County (formerly Luzerne County) at Fitch Corners on Rte. 292. There are no records for the cemetery prior to the 1960's, so any information any one can provide would really be appreciated. In compiling information, we are finding many of the people are in some way related. We welcome lineage information to help researchers link families. It would be very interesting to find out information about who was the founder of the cemetery. Such as was it the Fitch Family cemetery and then expanded to others? The information we compile will be given to the chairman of Fitch Cemetery and the Wyoming County Historical Society, who in turn can provide it to other genealogists, who are researching their ancestors in the cemetery. We will gladly share what we learn with others. Thank you in advance for any help you can provide. 1. [PALUZERN] Landmesser's baseball
    2. Can anyone tell me something about the Landmesser's Baseball Club? Our ancestor, John Henry Flynn played ball for them when he was killed in a mine fire in 1896. The family has a photo of him in uniform. I believe it was in Wilkes-Barre, since his family lived there. Was there a formal league for these teams or did they just form and play each other informally? Were the results posted in the newspapers? Mary

My father, Richard J. O'Donnell, a Minooka native, and some of his 4 brothers played in such a league. In the early 1930's, Dad played on the Bellevue Boosters baseball team and I have a copy of a team photo which appeared in The Scrantonian on Sunday, April 17, 1966. Unfortunately the players are not named but Al Smith is singled out as the manager. I do know that Mike McNally and Chick Shorten played on some of the same teams that my father did but cannot say with certainty that they appear in this photo. I believe that this team plated on a field located in what is known as the Diamond (Diamond Hill?) section. Dick ******************************************************* Richard J. 1. [PALUZERN] Question about census film numbers
    2. Hi, Did anyone ever put the places of the census on this list? or are they somewhere on the Luzerne Co web site that I could not find?? I want to order some CD's of 1860, but only want the Jeddo, Freeland area.. surely somewhere there is a list of the townships contained within the census? It seems to me I have seen it somewhere, but darn if I can find it now :-) If there are such lists, I would like it for other years also..not just 1860.. Thanks in advance, Barbara R.
