Can someone give me an idea of how long it should take to get copies of social security applications? I sent away for 4 of them back in November, I provided the numbers and a check. I sent the requests to SSA, Central Records, FOIA Workgroup, Baltimore, MD. The checks haven't been cashed yet. Is there a way I can call and check on them? Thanks for any help. Donna
Dear Friends, I'd like to contact others with the above surnames in hopes of connecting to my McDONALD'S / McDONNELL'S who immigrated to Scranton in the early 1850's. MC DONALD, Ann, b, 1827 somewhere in Ireland, d, 9 August 1881, Scranton, PA. Immigrated to Scranton, PA about 1850, m: 1856, Michael HICKS, Scranton, PA. 7 children. Mary MC DONALD, was a godparent to first child, 1857. Need information on all MC DONALD’S in Scranton, PA in that time period. I believe Ann came to Scranton to join relatives or friends as she was a young girl in her early 20's. As yet I haven’t been able to connect her to other MC DONALD’S or MC DONNELL’S living there when she arrived. We don’t know where in Ireland she was born. I understand MC DONALD/MC DONNELL surnames were interchangeable. She and husband, Michael HICKS named their second (and only surviving) daughter, Sarah. I believe that’s not a common Irish name and might be the name of a grandmother of either Ann or Mary MC DONALD. Any help would be appreciated. Thank you. Mary L. Casey

Hi, I was hoping someone could tell me what these initials stand for. My ggrandfather, John Drendall joined this Wilkes-Barre organization in 1919 with his sons, Lewis joining in 1920 and Fred joining in 1922. Previously, he joined the POS of A of Mountain Top in 1890. I found this stands for the Patriotic Order of Sons of America. Which seems strange to me, since he was the son of German immigrants. Would like to know more about this organization as well. Thanks, Kay
Thank you, Tammy, for requesting a Roll Call! It looks like a success! The family information I have is as follows (paternal) Anthony, Stephan, and Franciszek DZIAWER came to America from Galecia, Poland in the 1890's. Anthony JAVER (DZIAWER) married Eva BRESCO and had seven children. I don't know what happened to Stephan DZIAWER. Franciszek DZIAWER married Emelia RYDZWESKA (4/1899, St. Mary of the Nativity Church, Plymouth, PA) Franciszek DZIAWER passed away 3/20/1928 and is buried at the same church of his marriage. I have no information on Emelia RYDZWESKA at all! They had three sons, John JAVER (DZIAWER), Joseph Frank JAVER (DZIAWER) (1900), and Stanley JAVER (DZIAWER) (1903). John had no children and always lived with his brother, Joseph married Julia VALENTA (WALENTA) had twins daughters who were premature and died soon after birth and then two daughters. Stanley JAVER (DZIAWER) married Mary SIENKIEWICZ had a daughter and a son. Somewhere in this timeline, the name was changed from DZIAWER to JAVER (which is essentially the same pronunciation) but I haven't been able to pinpoint when that occurred. Franciszek DZIAWER passed away 3/20/1928 and is buried at the same church of his marriage. I have no information on Emelia RYDZWESKA at all! Any help with these family names is greatly appreciated!
