    1. [PALUZERN] Help with old writing
    2. Joan Shirk
    3. I have been trying to decypher the writing on two death certificates. The first if from a location in PA , I believe it to be in either Luzerne or Lackawanna counties. As far as I can tell it is LANDARULL, LOWDAWELL, LOWALARULL, LOWDUNLL. The script is very hard to figure out. Would these names compare to any known location? Or any suggestions? The second if from a last name. She is the mother of George W. Thomas, he was born 1832. She married Samuel Thomas. George was born in the above location. Her first name is Elizabeth. Her last name it looks like WOOLINER, WODINER, WOOL... Does this ring a bell with anyone. I would appreciate any suggestions. Thanks Joan

    1. [PALUZERN] 1910 Miracode Index Question
    2. I cannot translate what this entry means. Hopefully someone may help me. I interpret it to mean "Lodema HOOVER" is the head of household, and her husband is deceased(?), and her sister Mary & 2 nephews lived with her, or were visiting at the time the census taker was there. I understand the others to be "residents", but what does "MAX" mean. In the 2nd entry, it does have "MAX" next to this man's name. Also, is anyone else here familiar with the HOOVER family in Wilkes-Barre? In the late 1800s, Lodema HOOVER's parents and siblings lived on Gildersleeve al (I'm on a roll with my assumptions, but the "al" on the street address means, "alley"?) And! For the first time, I just now noticed this: In the first entry, the house visit is #0050 which includes the BARRE's. In the 2nd entry, the house visit is #0051, different from the first. But says Lodema HOOVER is the "Husband" (same as the first). I know this is confusing, but I hope someone out there sees what I am missing here and kindly enlightens me!!! Thanx, Thyme Here are 2 of the miracode entries, appearing to be one visit, but at a closer look shows 2 "visits" .... Pa Obits Forum Reply Here: http://cgi.rootsweb.com/~genbbs/genbbs.cgi/USA/Pa/LuzerneObits/6578 Surname: Dooley, Lameraux, Linn, Snyder ------------------------- Death of Aged Woman Rhoda L. Snyder Passes Away At Plymouth Rhoda Linn Snyder died at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Emily Dooley, at 549 State street, Plymouth Township, at 9 o'clock Saturday morning, aged 87 years, 6 months and 23 days. The funeral will take place at 2 o'clock Tuesday and will be conducted by Rev. L. O. Knipp of the Christian Church. Friends are asked to omit flowers. She was of a family, remarkable for longevity. Of one brother and five sisters who preceded her in death, all except one, Martha, who died at the age of 70, had long passed their allotted three-score and ten. One brother, James Linn, age 85, is still living at Lowell, Mich. Rhoda Linn, daughter of Adam Linn and Martha Lameraux Linn, was born Sept. 15, 1817, in Plymouth where the Vine street school building now stands. Her father, Adam Linn, whose parents were of Irish birth, was born in Morris County, N.J. Her mother, Martha Lameraux, was born in Jackson Township, Luzerne County, and was a daughter of Thomas Lameraux, who was a Revolutionary soldier, and who during part of the war was a prisoner on one of the Long Island prison ships. She was married to Philip Snyder, Nov. 7, 1839. In 1845 with their family, she and her husband journeyed overland to Cleveland, O., the journey taking twenty-one days. They stayed six months and then returned to Plymouth. In 1854, they again left their home, this time to go to Michigan, where they again stayed six months. On this trip they had to go to Scranton in order to reach the railroad. With her sister Rachel she was baptized and became a member of the Christian Church Dec. 28, 1833, and with her parents, brothers, sisters and husband was closely identified with the early history of the Christian Church of Plymouth. She was the old oldest Disciple in this section and during the active years of her life was a faithful worker in the Church.
