The deceased had been subject to convulsions for several years, and it was in one of them that he died on Thursday night last. The funeral was postponed until today on account of his two children who are located in the far west. They did not arrive, however, in time for the funeral. Mr STILES was an uncle of Mrs Dr KESSLER, of this city. A young son of RICHARD EVANS, a miner, while attempting to cross the tracks at the Empire colliery, was run down by a passing train and had one of his legs horribly mangled. The little sufferer was immediately taken to his home and a physician called who, upon examing the child's injuries, found that amputation was necessary. The boy was only 8 years old. Ed, Phoenix
I have been wondering about this for sometime. My Grandmother said that her father built a Grandhouse at 1107 Pittston. Late 1870s early 80s That the Catholic School opened when she was 16 (born 1875) She spoke both high and low German as well as Gallic and English. She said there was a lot of Germans in the Neighborhood would they have gone to a German Catholic Church or was there an Irish Church close? names I am researching are Michael James O'Hara and wife Mary nee Howley both born Ireland. ( Sligo / Mayo) And what cemetery would they have used as Mary died in the late 1880s and they had some children die young. Thank you Patti Moore Lininger Yelm, WA

Sometime ago I changed the guidelines and it seems some people are under the impression that they cannot post links such as Mr. Johnson posted earlier. This is incorrect information. You can post links to ebay, folkfinders and other companies. You should not post prices, or discuss companies on the list at all. Here is one of the guidelines that was changed please read it and if you have any questions please direct them to me personally. 5.Advertising. Technically, RootsWeb has a "no commercial use" policy. Like all RootsWeb policies, though, the last thing that we want is for policy to get in the way of our doing genealogy. Therefore, the PALUZERN list will accept brief announcements of books and other resource material for sale that is specifically related to this county. Don't include prices and ordering info; just include a pointer to a URL, a commercial mailing list, or an E-mail address where the complete ordering information can be found. In case of doubt, send the message to the list custodian, tamlamb@icontech.com, and I'll review it and forward it to the list if appropriate. TAMMY LAMB
I think this kind of information belongs on the list. I would certainly be grateful if it were my ancestor. to the lister looking for help with ancestors from Wales - and anyone else with the same interest - there are two good mail lists - Wales-Gen and Glamorgan. Probably more, but those are the two I use. The first is a general list and the latter is for the south portion - the Glamorganshire area. Be prepared, tho - the Glamorgan list is wild! Lots and lots of wonderful info exchanged and people very willing to be of help, tho. You really pick up a flavor of the culture as well. Ruth FOLEY RILEY Mt. Hi All, I have come across a photo album (in very bad shape). Nearly all photos are unidentified but belonged to someone in the family of Norman S. Eisenman and his wife Marion Key Eisenman. One baby is identified as Linda Richie. There are several newsclippings of the following families: Greising Family, Zion Grove Road; engagement announcement of Martha Eisenman; an article on Mrs. Mary Hornick; retirement of Dr. McAloose; article on Julianne Eisenman and John Becker (Mr. and Miss McAdoo High School; newspaper photo of Mr. & Mrs. Francis J. Marusak Sr.; photo of Mr. & Mrs. Rex Matteo; photo of Rev. T.E. Eisenman. I would be happy to get this back into the hands of a family member who could possibly identify the photos. I don't want the cost of the album but anyone wanting the album could pay the postage and I would send it off. But beware that it is not in good shape and would need a lot of work. All photos could be trimmed up to look much better. Jean
Eckley is about 2 miles southeast of Freeland. If you take PA 940 from Hazleton towards Freeland, it takes a hard turn to the North just east of Oakdale and below Drifton, continue due east to Eckley, again about 2 1/2 miles. -----Original Message----- From: Keltic5548@aol.com <Keltic5548@aol.com> To: PALUZERN-L@rootsweb.com <PALUZERN-L@rootsweb.com> Date: Monday, January 22, 2001 8:38 PM Subject: [PALUZERN] Eckley Miner's Village >Hello list members, > I am trying to find out where in Luzerne County Eckley Miner's Village is.
