    1. [PALUZERN] genconnect boards
    2. Tammy Lamb
    3. This just came in thought everyone should know: The GenConnect server has been taken down for maintenance. The NOC staff is in the process of building a new RAID and then will back everything up to the new raid and put the server back online. That should solve the problems we've been having with this server of late. No word on exactly how long this will take.

Since someone mentioned Ricketts Glen :-) I have someone in my family tree that once kept house for the RICKETT(s) ....always thot it would be interesting to make a connection with the family about this person who had been employed by them in the early 1900s. Just throwing this in, in case someone happens to read this is somehow connected to the RICKETTS family and would pass the info along. The name of the employee was a Ms.HAAS-WEAVER Thyme

    1. [PALUZERN] Help needed.
    2. Deb Kohl
    3. Hi list, I don't know if this is acceptable behavior for a list member, but I got a surprise this afternoon. Being a volunteer for the Random Acts of Genealogical Kindness for Rootsweb for the state of Iowa, I was really surprised when I was going to ask for help from Luzerne Co., and there is only 1 volunteer from that county. The last time I was there, there were at least 4-5. Where did you all go???? It is a really wonderful program that really helps out the out of state people. We all know how much it costs sometimes for information we send for and then we wait and wait and wait sometimes for months to get the answer. You shouldn't have to wait more than a month on RAOGK to get an answer. I have five queries on my desk right now to check on and have answered many in the past. So if anyone feels they have an hour or 2 a month that they will probably be in the courthouse or cemetery anyway and you could look for one other persons info, Random Acts of Genealogical Kindness I'm sure would be pleased to have you sign up. I have no affiliation with them other than being a volunteer, but I really enjoy helping out other people. You can list behind your name what kind of lookups you will do. If you have an extensive library , cemetery, photo's in cemeteries, courthouses, whatever you feel you can do would be great. Please visit, http://www.rootsweb.com and go to the section that says Hosted Volunteer Genealogy Projects and you will see it there and sign up today. Thanks for letting me speak my piece and I hope I don't have to leave the best list in cyber space for doing so. Deb RINEHIMER KOHL Hamilton Co, IA Random Acts of Genealogical Kindness

    3. Hi: I am doing research on the Hughey Family ( sometimes spelled Hewey ). On the 1850 census for Kingston Township there is a James Hughey age 21 living with a Swallow Family. 1. Re: [PALUZERN] St.Nicholas Church
    2. Regarding the queries on St. Nicholas Church records: A number of years ago my husband and I were in Wilkes-Barre inquiring about some of my ancestors who had been members of St. Nicholas. They had the original books of baptisms and marriages beginning in 1856 and deaths beginning in 1911 which they let us look at under supervision. However, we had to wait for the priest to give permission to do this. They would not subject the books to a copy machine but did let us take photographs ot the entries. Several years later I heard that they had found "an old grave digger's book" behind a file cabinet that had a few earlier burials in it. They said that occasionally the secretary would search the books when she had extra time for a small fee. I don't know about St. Mary's Cemetery. Perhaps, if you wrote to the church, they could help. Good Luck, Val In a message dated 1/29/01 1:32:14 PM Central Standard Time, WMFHLNGR@aol.com writes: << I am trying to find information on Katharina FEHLINGER (married Karl Glaser). I am interested if anyone knows of the extent of records both from The Church and from the cemetery and where they can be accessed. Bill Fehlinger-NJ >>
