Pat, You're close. Lake Louise is in Franklin Twp., Luz. Co., half way between Demunds Corners and Orange. If you take the turnoff from Kunkle to the right and go up the hill, you come to Lake Catalpa first before reaching Lake Louise. By the way, the lake at Ricketts Glen State Park is Lake Jean. Doug Nicol, Harvey's Lake PA
Dear List, Pat is correct, Lake Louise is situated in the country that lies between Harvey's Lake and Kunkle.. John Armstrong
I believe Lake Louise is off Rte. 309 past Dallas. You take a right at Kunkle Corners, then the lake and a few private roads are on the left approx 1/2 mile. Pat Krivak

Folks, Does this mean that my relatives, born in the Northern Liberties (which I had associated with Philadelphia) are now part of Carbon County? Somehow this does not sound right... Hi- Does anyone remember a Haber's Bar in Tresko? My grandfather's brother Mike Haber was supposed to have operated the place... Find the best deals on the web at AltaVista Shopping! http://www.shopping.altavista.com
I think this information is incorrect. Lake Jean is located in Ricketts Glen State Park along Route 487. Lake Leigh and Lake Rose are now dry lakes within the park. Ganoga Lake is in a private development. There is no Lake Louise in Ricketts Glen State Park. ----- Original Message ----- From: Wendy Kaplan <wendylovesresearch@yahoo.com> To: <PALUZERN-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: Wednesday, January 31, 2001 12:51 PM Subject: Re: [PALUZERN] LAKE LOUISE > Lake Louise is located within Ricketts Glenn State > Park, on the Luzerne/Columbia County border, just off > State Route 118 in Fairmount Township. > > Wendy > > --- WMFHLNGR@aol.com wrote: > > I am interested in finding the exact location of > > Lake Louise near Dallas. > > It was named after Louisa (SCHMIDT) GOERINGER, my > > GGMothers daughter. > > > > I have a Wilkes-Barre map and it is not marked. > > I would appreciate either > > a street or road location or if not possible , > > "near...." location. > > > > Thanks.....Bill Fehlinger-NJ > > > > > > ==== PALUZERN Mailing List ==== > > Have you stopped by PA_GenWeb_Archives ? > > http://www.rootsweb.com/~usgenweb/pa/pafiles.htm > > > > > __________________________________________________ > Get personalized email addresses from Yahoo! Hello: Beginning in February, a massive new stream of uploads to the [LDS] familysearch.org website is expected. Included in these uploads will be 2.2 million records of Middle America-Mexico, the Sweden records of the Scandinavian Vital Records Index with 1.1 million names, the Social Security Death Index with 64 million names and, most significantly, an update of the Church's International Genealogical Index [IGI] with an addition of 125 million names. Vital records from other regions will follow. Uploads such as these will be ongoing throughout the year, and patrons should check frequently to see if information they need has been added recently. Also, Personal Ancestral File [windows-based genealogy software] has been update to version 5.0. The software can be downloaded FREE from the Church's internet site, and a CD-ROM will be available in a few weeks. This version will allow users to type and store characters from many of the world's languages. Significant changes have been added to the "match/merge" feature and the notes field is larger. Additional information can be obtained at the time the software is downloaded. Above info from press article. [I have no further info/details]. Ruth Ann Colorado
Col. Ricketts during the Civil War did not fit into the regular army but outfitted his own regiment from the Luzerne Co. area with his own funds. After the War he was rewarded with half of North Mountain real estate. Though to Col. Ricketts made millions on logging off North Mountain, and he had one of the homes on Millionair Row in Williamsport, to his credit - he never allowed the "Glen" to be logged because of its beauty.
