My apologies, I failed to put in a Subject line. I am looking for information on the cemetery in Sugar Notch that would have burials from about 1864 to 1875. TIA Ronni
Hello List, Looking for information about St Charles Cemetery in Sugar Notch, Luzerne Co., PA. I am seeking the grave for Julia Bennett and any other Bennett family between 1864 and 1875 in Sugar Notch. Are there records available for St Charles? Even though the actual Church was not completed until after 1875, when was the cemetery started? If the family did not have funds for burial, what was the procedure during that time in Sugar Notch? I would appreciate any help on locating this information for Julia Bennett, wife of Samuel C. Bennett. TIA Ronni
Hi listers, I am trying to locate Elizabeth Mohr born 1-27-1895. sisters Emma, & Dora. Elizabeth had 2 children: Edith Francis Colburn and Harold Christopher Colburn. The father was Christopher Colburn . Does any one have any info on Elizabeth & Christopher
I found out a little more information...and maybe some of this info might ring a bell for someone out Luzerne Newslist Land :-) Ella M. FAUX b. Abt. 1872 W. Nanticoke, PA d. 03 NOV 1954 Fairfield, Fairfield Co., CT 1st m. "Harry" KLINE b. ? d. ? (Harry's name might have been "Harrison") (Ella and Harry are said to have lived in Berwick...) Issue: Myles KLINE David Harrison KLINE Mildred KLINE m. HEALY 2nd m. Miles COVERT Ella and Miles COVERT lived in Foundryville, Pa. on the very edge of Berwick. I went to find the house, and if I was right, it is located on Summerhill Rd, Foundryville, Pa. at the foot of a hill..and there is a Foundryville Methodist Church. It's actually a beautiful home but neighbor's residences are right on top of each other. I am pretty sure I found Miles COVERT in the 1910 miracode index listed with his first wife and children so Ella and Miles COVERT would have to have been married after that date. Ella (nee FAUX) KLINE-COVERT than moved to CT. Ella's employment was housemaid, school cook (in Berwick). I was told she worked in the school kitchen primarily preparing the school lunches. I know at sometime she was in CT prior to 1923, but she may have returned to Pa., then eventually go back to CT and live her years out there. Oh! In case this means anything, Ella is buried at Oaklawn Cemetery, Fairfield, CT. I might as well add, Ella's sister: Emily Jane (nee FAUX) SMITH (also known as Em or Emma), sister: Mary Mariah (nee FAUX) HAAS-SPENCER, brother-in-law: Fred C. HAAS is buried at Edgehill Cemetery, W. Nanticoke, Pa. Thyme
My sister has offered to help me look up our great-great grandfather Joseph Gordon in the Mine Inspector's fatality reports, since she now lives near the PA state archives. Unfortunately, after whittling the date range down of when the fatality might have occured, I'm still left with 1903-1910, so she's got a lot of volumes to look through. It would help us narrow down the search if we knew what mines or even what mine districts are the most likely candidates. So my questions for the list are: If someone was known to have lived in Duryea at that time, what are the most likely mines that they would have worked in? What mine districts (as defined for mine inspector's reports) would these mines be in? Is there a mine inspectors district map available somewhere? Regarding the same ancestor, but on another topic: What catholic churches in Duryea would you expect an Irish family to attend? __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!? I did make the call last summer and for genealogy requests they just want you to mail in the application not fax it. ----- Original Message ----- From: <tikigenealogy@home.com> To: <PALUZERN-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: Tuesday, February 06, 2001 3:47 PM Subject: Re: [PALUZERN] Death Certificate Application > I checked the website and it says if this request is for genealogy, please > call a specific number for more information. Hi all, I'm looking at death certificates from the 1920's. The questions listed below are asked on the certificate. Keep in mind that the person giving the information may or may not know the answers. So, the parents names may be listed as unknown, but you never know. Death certificates have been very beneficial to me and are definitely worth getting, because every clue helps. From my great grandmother's death certificate from 1922, I got the names of my great great grandparents and the countries where they were born. On another death certificate I got the place where a great grandmother was buried, which was different from the church that did the funeral. If they can't find the death certificate with the information that you provided, they will send back a form for more detail or exact information. I had one great grandmother that they couldn't find even though I had put down the correct information on the application. I had the obituary, so they said to send that along the second time. I did, and they found it on the second search. So, sometimes they may just have missed it the first time through. When I got the certificate the surname which began with an R looked like a P. On the other hand I ordered one for a gggf, whom I thought died in 1929, the certificate came back with a death date of 1928, so they were very thorough on this one. Remember to put down any possible spelling variations of the surname. Debbie Sex Death Certificates include: Color or Race Residence Date of Birth Date of Death Age Marital Status Occupation Birthplace Name of Father Birthplace of Father Name of Mother Birthplace of Mother Informant Cause of Death Contributory Cause Duration of Illness Place of Burial Undertaker The later one's also include Social Security Number
Hi, I recently send for a death certificate and I knew the month and the year and the check was returned to me stating that I needed to submit EXACT information. I suppose it all depends on who you get to do the look-up. Liz Bartle Long Island, New York

I would love to communicate with familes that grew up in Exeter. My ggrandfather was Casper Oberdorfer. Other names I remember my grand mother talking about were the Dreisbachs, Suttons, Lewis's, Reinhardts, Schultheis. If any one is familiar with these names other families from that area I would love to hear from you. Bob Williams fcmb@aug.com
