Hello lists~I sent a message this morning about my gggrandmother who remarried and I was looking for some info on her. I have not received a message all day nor did I receive my initial messages. So, just testing the system. Thanks to all and if anyone has info on Letty/Letta Gritman Fisk who remarried after her first husband died in 1891. Letty died in 1920 and lived in Factoryville at that time. Hello lists~ Ok, this is the story ! I know the family GRITMAN is completely documented, however, my gggrandmother (Letty/Letta Gritman) re-married after her husband, Philips Rhodes Fisk died in 1891. I know she died in 1920 and lived in Factoryville when she died. I have a letter ready to send to the Division of Vital Statistics. Since I do not know her 2nd married name but have everything else, will they be able to "find" her? Anyone have any hints on how to find who she married? Does anyone know how long the Wilkes-Barre Evening Leader was in publication? I'm trying to locate 4 obits from 1899 through 1926. Does anyone have any suggestions about which newspapers in the areas of Plains, Pittston and Wilkes-Barre were most likely to publish obits for the working folk of the area? I feel like I'm not having the best luck with the Wilkes-Barre Record. Thank you, J. Rehms Green Bluff, WA USA

Hi, Is Goss Cemetery in Harveysville or near it? What is the name of the road the cemetery is located? Thanks, Denise DennieXYZ@aol.com
How to find the Old Goss Cemetery: Let's call Harveyville center to be the juncture of Hunlock's Creek Tpk from the east, SR 4015 from the north, Harveyville Rd from the west, and SR 4016 from the south. Once there, head south on SR 4016. It won't be that far. The Old Goss Cemetery (owner's deed calls it the Harveyville Municipal Cemetery) is located on property about 2 to 3 houses down the road and on the right side of the road on the Harveyville Knoll. One house on the hill is in a clearing with a few trees around it. That's not the one, but I think it comes next. The right residence is on the hill in an area where the trees were scalloped out for the home and the lawn areas. I think it was a mobile or modular home. It has a screened front deck or porch. It's blue in color. If you can't find it, ask. The older residents know about it. I'd let the gentleman who owns the property know that you want to visit the cemetery. He can point out the cemetery in the TALL brush to the left of his home. He told me to come any time. "Just drive right up here," he said, pointing to his driveway. As you face the front porch. Turn 90° to the left and carefully scan the area straight off the left end of his house. Walk in that direction and you should see a tombstone. Don't go down by the area of fallen timber which is closer to SR 4016. I believe you'll find that the first headstone will be for Thankful (Wilkinson) SEWARD. Just over on the other side of her tombstone is a stone, above-ground vault. I have been there on two occasions. I roamed around the hillside, and you will have to crawl/crouch in some places. The brush is HIGH. The owner said he used to maintain it, but his hip keeps him from doing that work any longer. It's my understanding that a portion of Pennsylvanian's taxes are levied so that the townships can maintain these old cemeteries. I don't think the money is spent on that effort. It would be nice to find a concerned citizen of Huntington Township who could muster a Boy Scout troop to clear the site. We recently learned of the trashing and vandalism of the Arnold-Benscoter Cemetery in Muhlenburg. We are losing these valuable resources. Good Hunting! Hello! I am looking for information regarding my great grandfather, William Rhoades. He was born in Centralia, PA in 1885 and grew up in Shamokin, PA. He married Jennie Brobst in Bloomsburg, PA in 1907. Some of their children's names were Lawrence, Adeline, Mary, Robert, Effie, Ruth, John, and Jimmy. William moved to Wilkes-Barre in 1942. He worked as a chef at the Sayler's Cafe until he retired. He died in Wilkes-Barre. The service was at Christ Lutheran Church. The funeral home was Kniffen Funeral Home. I have talked to the funeral home and discovered that his information was probably lost in a flood. I believe he died in the 1950s. I would appreciate any help finding information on my family. Thanks in advance, Christy
Hi folks. I recently wrote to MCHS trying to get info on ancestors. I rec'd a response today . Seems that the people who did the research have moved, and right now there isn't anyone else to do it.
