Margaret, Thanks for the information. I tend to avoid any strange attachments or even messages that promise sexual content, like the Snow White Virus. There is something out there about a Bride according to the evening news last night. One thing I have to do today is update my McAfee. I found a very brief IGI entry for a marriage between Adalade CHIVERS, b. abt 1854 "<Wilkes> Barre," PA and Oscar Bennett SLOCUM. No date or place for the marriage, nor was there a source for the entry. I have an Adelaide CHIVERS born about this time in Wales, who moved to Pittston in 1864. If any SLOCUM researchers have clues about this couple, I would love to hear from you. Kathleen Cooper kathleencooper@bigfoot.com
Hello list, I am trying to find the death dates or certificates for Ursule 1851-1905 and Juozas 1850-1914 BRAZAITIS buried at St. Joseph's Church in Mahoney City, Schuykill County. I wrote directly to the church with a $30.00 check last August and have received no reply, nor was the check cashed. I wrote to the PA archives and received a certified non listing of death for Juozas. I will write to Wilkes Barre Orphan's court for Ursule as the date is 1905. Any other suggestions? Does anyone know if St Joseph's was taken over by another church? Is it still there? Thanks for any help, Jeanne
Hello researchers, A few years back someone suggest a research exchange. Almost like the volunteers list. Except someone posted "Ct Census lookup in exchange for Luzerne Census lookup". It was a big help to both people. If you need a census checked or another record checked in one area you may want to ask the list server if there is someone in the area willing to check it in exchange for a lookup in your area that you have access to. TO all Researchers First I would like to clear something about the Genconnect boards. Although I am listed as the admin of the boards I have no control of them being Archived or missing. This is done automaticaly by genconnect' setup. The only time I am involved in any of the Genconnect boards is when someone contacts me that they have posted to them and made and error and would like it corrected, if they change email addresses, or if someone posts to the wrong board. For those of you that have visited Genconnect you probably noticed that Februarys postings are missing. This has nothing to do with me, however I did receive the Following information: During last months upgrades at rootsweb, they found that one of the hard drives went bad, The one holding all the Frebruary postings for genconnect. They are working on trying to recover the data and hope to have it up and running as soon as possible. I hope this answers everyones questions as to where the posting went to for last month. On March 4, 2001, J Rehms offered to lookup births at the LDC. I would greatly appreciate a lookup for my mother's birth on the film you mentioned, FHL #0960578 Luzerne County Birth Index: L through Z for 1904-1905. Her name was MARY VOLOSIN. However, spellings have been different on documents. It could have been WALASON, WOLASON, etc. On the 1910 Miracode it was spelled Willoshin. When I wrote to the Luzerne County Courthouse, they said they could not find any record. I believe the spelling is the problem. Her birthdate was May 3, 1904. She was born in either Ashley or Fairview in Luzerne County. Her father was George Volosin and her mother's name was Hedwig Karslak (or Karslya), both from Austria-Hungary. I am sorry for all the uncertainties here, but that is all I have. I've been trying for three years to get a birth record. Your help will be so appreciated, whether or not you have any success. Thanks. Pat Wilber
