I am going out to the Plymouth/Wilkes Barre area of Pa in early April to look for info on those below. Some may still have relatives living there. I know there were cousins to the people listed below. Please contact me directly if you see any connections with your families. Thanks!! Hope to meet some long, lost relatives!!! John Mooney born in PA 1856. Parents were Patrick Mooney and Anna (?) Connelly (?) both of whom were from Ireland. John married Margaret Brennan in Dec 1881 at St. Vincent's in Plymouth. After having several children in Plymouth (or thereabouts) they moved to Chicago in the early 1890s. Siblings to John were: Patrick, James. Tom, Rose, William, George, Peter, Joseph, Daniel, Dennis. Some of those names may be incorrect and there may be others. I think he had 12 siblings. Margaret Brennan Mooney's siblings: Bridget (married Powers), William, Tom, James, Mary Ann, Kate (married Pat Curry), John. Again these are not for certain. Margaret was born in Pa around 1862. Her father may have been Dennis Brennan and her mother may have been Margaret Delaney Brennan. ___________________________________________________________________________________ Thomas Crossin born NY 1857. Married Bridget Heffron, possibly also in Plymouth 1882. Eventually they moved to Chicago and had 2 children who survived into adulthood, Tom and William. Bridget Heffron was supposedly born in Ireland in 1858 and came to the US in 1861. Siblings to Tom may have been: Mary Crossin Norton (who eventually lived in Cleveland) and William and James. I also have the cover of the Book on my web site and the details of the flood. See the Elizabeth MOCK obit page. Mrs. Edwards is an angel! She also found my family. Most of my graves were washed away but she gave me lots of information about the plots. Its been about 3 years since I visited with her. I do have a copy of the cemetery book and am happy to check names for people. It has a lost of "Family Plots" and "Single Graves". There is also a map. They also have "notes" stationery for sale. This is one cemetery that I like to support! They go above and beyond the call of duty to help. Good luck with your search. I too, would be interested in any information on lister's experiences getting information/mail replies to queries. St. Mary's - Avoca and St. Mary's in Wilkes-Barre are two that I am interested in, but the information would probably beneift the list in general. I just posted a letter to St. Mary's Wilkes Barre earlier this week, so we'll see how long it takes. I did include a donation, but if there is a fee charged, it may not have been sufficient. Wilkes-Barre wants no assistance: Mayor C B Sutton, of this city, is in receipt of numerous letters from the cities of this state, New York, New Jersey and other states asking if any help is needed in relieving the distress of the mining population. No help is needed. The mayor is not pleased that any idea to the contrary should get abroad, but highly appreciates the benevolent spirit which prompted the kind offers he has received. It was easy for a mayor to be macho, eh? He had money! I would like to ask if anyone, among those currently subscribed, has any connection to the BURST family or the SOMMERS family of Plymouth Township. I am afraid I have grown rather stagnant on this list, due to working on my mother's lines in NJ and Philadelphia. I have been finding many living cousins. Wish I could say the same for my dad! I am also interested in KELLY with no second E in it, particularly if they were *not* well-to-do, as I think that is a separate line. Thanks, Vince Summers
OSBORN. I'm hunting for information on the James OSBORN family. James bc1748 owned land in Exeter and was in the 1800 Census. He came from Sussex Co. NJ and his son James was born in Orange Co. NY July 1774. JamesOSBORN Sr. was a physician who treated Revolutionary War soldiers and later moved to around Sibley or Taylor. He was married to Asenath Brady(Broedie). His son James owned land in Tunkhannock and sold and moved to Delaware Co. OH between 1811 and 1817. I have been unable to locate where James and Asenath are buried. Are there any descendants of James OSBORN still in the area? Does anyone have knowledge of who James OSBORN Sr.'s parents might be or of the parents of Asenath Brady(Broedie)? I have much information on James JR's descendants and also some information on his brothers and sisters. Connie Maguire e-mail cmaguir@utnet.utoledo.edu
