Ken -------------------------------------------------------- The Pontotoc Progress Pontotoc, MS February 20, 2012 James Tutor Pontotoc James Michael Tutor, 47, of Pontotoc died Thursday, Feb. 14, 2013, at his home from complications of heart failure. Mike was born in 1965 in Pontotoc and graduated Pontotoc High School in 1983. Prior to graduating high school, Mike had visited France, Germany, Belgium, Austria, Switzerland, Italy and England as a member of the United States Collegiate Wind Band, a touring honor band comprised of high school age youth. He worked his way through college as a broadcaster, graduating with a B.A. in political science in 1987. He earned a J.D. in law in 1990. While at Ole Miss he was a member of the Ole Miss marching and concert bands. Mike was a longtime municipal attorney for two Mississippi towns and worked as a Youth Court prosecutor for many years. He also took pride in other important public works such as counsel to Region IV Mental Health-Mental Retardation Commission. In 2006 he became court administrator to the 1st Chancery Court District of Mississippi, serving eight North Mississippi counties. Mike loved traveling and hiking in national parks with his children and especially attending Ole Miss sporting events with family. He is survived by his wife of 24 years, Virginia Delese Palmertree Tutor; three children, Tyler, Allison and Andrew; and his mother, Marilyn Newland Tutor. He was preceded in death by his father, James Lee Tutor. Funeral services were Saturday, February 16, at First Baptist Church in Pontotoc. Burial was in Pontotoc City Cemetery. Tutor Memorial Funeral Home of Pontotoc was in charge of the arrangements. Pallbearers were deacons of First Baptist Church and Sunday School Class. In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be made to the First Baptist Church Building Fund, 31 West Washington St., Pontotoc, MS 38863.
