The Winona Times Winona, MS Sep 6, 2012 (Son of Victor Nail and Ela Maggie Crick) Deceased Name: George Colon Nail STEWART -- Funeral services for George Colon Nail of Stewart will be at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, September 6, at Poplar Creek Nations Baptist Church near Kilmichael, with Rev. Frank Vaughn officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery with military honors. Visitation was Wednesday, September 5, from 5:00 until 8:00 p.m., at Oliver Funeral Home. Mr. Nail died of heart failure at his residence on Sunday, September 2, 2012. He was 87 years old. Mr. Nail was the son of the late Earl Victor and Ela Maggie Crick Nail. He was a retired riverboat engineer and a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II. He was a member of the Methodist church in Laurel, and had attended Tri-County Baptist Church for 20 years. In addition to his parents, Mr. Nail was preceded in death by his first wife, Elsie Crowder Nail; his second wife, Katie Sykes Nail; one sister; and four brothers. Survivors include his wife, Barbara Jean Nail of Stewart; four daughters, Sandra Birchler of Greendell, NJ, Sharron Rene Williams of Yanceyville, N.C., Cheryl Kindred of Brooklyn, NY, Geraldean Nail of Durango, Colo.; one stepdaughter, Gina Nail Vaughn of Winona; one stepson, Mike Nail of Stewart; fifteen grandchildren; and ten great-grandchildren. Pallbearers will be Michael Birchler, Colin Birchler, Ryan Vaughn, Cole Vaughn, Hunter Vaughn, James Mims, Kelcey Nail, Mark Nail, and Wayne Williams.
