He was the son of William J. Jackson and Mary Elizabeth "Eliza" Bagwell. He married Lura Jane Wells, daughter of Samuel Bly Wells and Marinda Carol Sims, on 17 Dec 1891 in Choctaw County, MS. Dave farmed for a living, and in 1904 relocated his family to the Centerville Community in Beat 3. Dave continued to farm, providing food for his family, also selling his produce, including fresh eggs and milk, in Greenwood and the surrounding community. The family joined the Centerville Baptist church and regularly attended services. Dave was a strong Christian and raised his children to respect and fear God. He regularly played the pump organ for the church services, obviously passing on his musical talent to many of his grand and great-grandchildren. Dave and Lura were the parents of 12 children, six of them being born in Carroll County: Hallie Cuthbert, died at age 5 and buried in Choctaw County; Jasper, who married Minnie Lee Goss; Alma, who married Edgar A. Myers and died at age 37 in childbirth; David, died at age 1 month and buried in Choctaw County; Lillian, who married Albert Sydney Johnson; Valery, died at age 3 months in Carroll County; Grace, who married Rodney H. McDaniel; Edna May, died at age 5 in Carroll County; William Howard, who married Mattie Sue Jones; Ernest, who married Neppy Palmertree; Minnie Louise, who married Campbell Goss; and David Rogers, who married Lorene Garrard. All are deceased except for David Rogers and wife, and are buried in Centerville Baptist cemetery.
