Lynn and Ken, Ken, it seems that Lynn is just another researcher that never let's go of a family puzzle that has had all of us baffled for many years. Good thinking Lynn and this is what it looks like to me at this time... Adelbert's grandfather was, William-born about 1794, a brother of William was John-born 12 October 1812. John is Francines great grandfather and John's family not only lived in the Poplar Spring's area but Francine's grand father William Thomas was married to Rebecca Oliver, a sister to Sarah Oliver, the mother of Tobitha. To me it seems more than likely that Adelbert was in this area about April 1893 when Tobitha became pregnant. But as Adelbert died 12 June1893 that could be the reason he never returned for Tobitha... Delbert was born 1 January 1894... Adelbert may have never known that Tobitha was going to have a son for them and that she would drop the "A" from his name and call him Delbert. The story that I heard was that he left her at a train station and told her that he would return for her??? And again Lynn, thank's for this idea that I would think is a fact... O.D., I didn't realize some of the relationships you provided here. I like your theory about this, too. Makes sense to me, but I guess we'll never know for certain until that one piece of undisputable evidence surfaces, huh? Thanks for your input. That's very interesting information. I am sort of persistent, and it is hard for me to let anything go. Even when I lose something, I can not stop looking until I find it. Sometimes it takes a long time, but I keep on going. My husband has learned to just ignore me during this time. Unfortunately, I usually put things where I think it will be a safe place, then I can't remember that safe place. But, by golly, it's safe, that's for sure. I have spoken (via email) with Bobby Palmertree (Donny's dad, Delbert's son, Robert's half-brother), and he seems rather excited to have found other siblings. He said he knew there was another son and had heard his father mention Fay (Robert's mom), but was unsure. It excites me so to finally find out all of this information. I have been married to Robert for 33 years, and in all that time I have wanted to explore this man who fathered my husband. I just didn't want to hurt or upset anyone. You never know when you start looking for someone how they will react. Something like this happened to my uncle years ago. He had been separated from his mother or father, can't remember which, since he was about 2 years old. For some reason he kept remembering a baby, but no one was talking. Not long before he died at age 42, he did some digging. And found out that when his parents split, his sister went with the other parent. Now, Uncle Herman had a daughter named Dixie. Guess what his sister's name was? You guessed it - Dixie. She had no idea there was a brother in her family. Okay, so that's enough for now. I get started and can not quit. I guess because I have been so interested in my family ancestors for so long. I have books on my Higginbotham side, my Vanlandingham side, and my Easley side. It makes it easier when someone else has done so much of the hard work.
