    2. The Greenwood Commonwealth Greenwood, MS March 12, 2009 James O. Palmertree Graveside services for James O. Palmertree of Greenwood will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Odd Fellows East Cemetery in Greenwood. Mr. Palmertree, 69, died Wednesday, March 11, 2009, at Regency Hospital in Jackson. Mr. Palmertree was born in Leflore County on April 13, 1939, to the late Luther and Vassie Palmertree and lived here all of his life. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army where he was a supervisor over military vehicles. He also worked at Cannon Motors and he was part owner and operator of J&L machine shop in Itta Bena. He enjoyed fishing and all types of outdoor activities. He and his grandson, Stephen, built dirt track race cars and always looked forward to weekend races. Mr. Palmertree was of the Pentecostal faith and loved his black Labrador retriever Molly. He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Lucretia Palmertree of Greenwood; his daughter, Melanie Everett of Greenwood; two sisters, Jean Smith of Greenwood and her husband, Sonny, and Margaret Cooper of Greenwood and her husband, Dan; four grandchildren, Brandi Gregory of Greenwood and her husband, Lance, Ashley Everett of Greenwood, Stephen R. Everett of Greenwood and Taylor Everett of Black Hawk; two great-grandchildren, Haley Gregory and Katie Gregory; five nephews; and two nieces. Visitation is from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Friday at Williams and Lord Funeral Home in Greenwood. The Rev. Preston Kelly will officiate at the services. Pallbearers will be Dale Woodall, Trey Kelly, Garvis Evans, Phil Gabbert, Lee Von Beckworth and Grady Perkins. Honorary pallbearers are John Hays, Charles Burton and The Cannon Team. Williams and Lord Funeral Home in Greenwood is in charge of arrangements. Burial will be in Odd Fellows East Cemetery in Greenwood. Military rites will be performed by American Legion Post 29 of Greenwood.
