The Winona Times Winona, MS Dec 1, 1866 Mrs. Hettie Varner Lamb Obituary Mrs. Lamb dies in Illinois - was Vaiden Native Funeral services for Mrs. Hettie Varner Lamb, 73, was held Thursday, November 10th at the Poplar Springs Baptist Church. Rev. C.E. Burden officiated, with burial in the Poplar Springs Cemetery, Oliver Funeral Home in charge of arrangements. Mrs. Lamb, a native of Vaiden, died November 6th, at Highland Hospital, Belvidere, Illinois, following a lengthy illness. She was a member of the Church of the Open Bible at Belvidere. Survivors include a son, Davis Applewhite of Baton Rouge La.; a daughter, Mrs. Kenneth Rhodes, Belvedere, Ill.; 3 brothers, Cecil Varner, Bell Garden, Calif., John Varner, Kilmichael, and Earling Varner, Forrest City, Ark.; a sister, Mrs. Mamie Walker, West Memphis, Ark.; and 2 grandchildren. Pallbearers were E.L. Varner, Herbert Stewart, Jamie Roberts, Marshall Varner, George Walker,Jr., and Ernest Stewart.
