April 9, 1953 The Star Herald Kosciusko, Ms. Services Are Held For Samuel Jones James Samuel Jones, well known Kosciusko resident & retired farmer, died Monday in a Jackson hospital. He was 77 & had been in falling health for several years. Jones, son of the late T.V. & Josie Clark Jones, was a native Attalan & had lived for many years in McCool. He came to Kosciusko with his family to reside about 3 years ago. He had extensive farming interests in McCool & in the Mississippi Delta. He was a member of the McCool Methodist church & of the Masonic lodge there. He was active in community, business & church affairs for many years. Services were held at McCool Methodist church Wednesday at 2 p.m., with Rev. W.M. Jones, pastor of Kosciusko's First Methodist church, & Rev. A.B. Pierce, pastor of Kosciusko's First Baptist church, officiating at the last rites. Interment was at Liberty Chapel under the direction of Jordan Funeral Home. Pallbearers were Percy Jones, John Paul Jones, Vivian Jones, Toler Jones, K.C. Jones, Vester Jones, Jack Miles, Clarence Crossley. He leaves his wife, Mrs. Leona Bennett Jones, Kosciusko; 1 son, Wayne Jones, Drew; 3 daughters, Mrs. Ila Miles, Swiftown; Mrs. Erlyne Claybourne, Hawthorn, Calif.; Mrs. Eva Wilder, Kosciusko; 2 brothers, Ben Jones, Leland, Oscar Jones, Greenville; 2 step children, Upton Black, Sidon, Mrs. Mabel Reynolds, Louisville.
