The Daily Star Grenada, MS March 19, 2009 Allie Walker Leggette Ms. Allie W. Leggette, 81, of Grenada, died Tuesday, March 17, 2009, at Grenada Lake Medical Center. She was born in Montgomery County on Sept. 14, 1927, to John Kelly and Erma Tompkins Walker. Ms. Leggette was a retired supervisor of Pennaco Hosiery and a member of Poplar Springs Baptist Church. Graveside services will be held at 11 a.m. at Grenada Memorial Gardens on Thursday, March 19, 2009, with the Rev. Larry Windham officiating. Ms. Leggette is survived by her daughter, Janice Bays of Grenada; a son, John Larry Leggette of Grenada; three grandchildren; five great grandchildren; one sister, Mary Alice Walker of Grenada; one brother, Wayne Walker of Winona; and a host of nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, John Kelly and Erma Tompkins Walker. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to Elizabeth Jones Library, 1050 Fairfield Avenue, Grenada, MS 38901. Garner-Harper Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
