The Clarksdale Press Register Clarksdale, MS October 14, 2008 Davie Overstreet Miller July 17, 1924 - October 12, 2008 Davie Overstreet Miller, 84, of Ridgeland formerly of Clarksdale, died Sunday, October 12, 2008, at Hospice Ministries in Ridgeland. She was born July 17, 1924 in Montgomery County, Mississippi. She was a communicant of St. George's Episcopal Church. Mrs. Miller is survived by her daughters, Cathy Maxey Smith, and her husband, David, of Bemidji, Minn. and Anne Miller Humber of Clarksdale; her sons, Leighton Miller Jr., and his wife, Karen, of Booneville and George Miller, and his wife, Debbie, of Clarksdale; her daughter-in-law, Jen Maxey Sampson, and her husband, Steve, of Jackson; her grandson, Chase Maxey, Kirkland Maxey, Dr. Jimmy Humber IV, Jeff Humber, George Miller Jr., Lee Miller, and Chris Miller; granddaughters, Amanda Smith Warthesen and Mary Anne Humber Walters; 11 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husbands, Dr. Charles Maxey and Leighton S. Miller, and her son, Greg Maxey. Visitation will be held from 2 p.m. until 3 p.m., Wednesday, Oct. 15 at National Funeral Home in Clarksdale. Funeral services are scheduled for 3 p.m., Wednesday, Oct. 15 at National Funeral Home in Clarksdale with the Rev. Hunter Brewer of Madison Heights Church in Madison, officiating. The pallbearers will be her grandsons. Burial will follow in Oakridge Cemetery in Clarksdale. Memorial contributions may be sent to the American Diabetes Association, P O Box 11454, Alexandria, VA 22312 or the charity of the donor's choice. National Funeral Home of Clarksdale is handling arrangements.
