The Clarion-Ledger Jackson, MS September 25, 2007 Lagrone Mortimer Mr. Lagrone Mortimer, 88, retired president of the Bank of Kilmichael, died following a lengthy illness, Saturday, September 22, 2007, at Kilmichael Hospital in Kilmichael. Visitation is today from 1:00 until 3:00 p.m., at Bethlehem United Methodist Church near Winona. Funeral services are 3:00 p.m., today at Bethlehem United Methodist Church near Winona with burial in the Friendship Cemetery in Kilmichael. Rev. Andrea Johnson will officiate the services. Oliver Funeral Home in Winona, MS is handling the arrangements. Mr. Mortimer served on the Kilmichael Board of Alderman, and on the board of directors for Wood Junior College and the Columbus & Greenville Railroad. He was a member of the Kilmichael Lions Club, and a U.S. Army Air Corps veteran of World War II. He was a longtime member of Kilmichael United Methodist Church in Kilmichael. Survivors include one daughter, Pamela Gotten (Nick) of Memphis, TN; three sons, Rodney Kent Mortimer (Ethlyn) of Kilmichael, Charles Lagrone Mortimer (Kay) of Jackson, and Bertram Spivey "Buddy" Mortimer (Laurin) of Winona; three sisters, Olene Mortimer of Winona, Beth Brister of Cleveland, and Ruth Cooper of Water Valley; one brother, Kelly Mortimer of Winona; six grandchildren, Mary Love Tagert of Starkville, Kent Mortimer of Ridgeland, Laura and Wells Mortimer of Jackson, and Cole and Jane Mortimer of Winona; and two great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife of 55 years, Ellen Kent Mortimer; his parents, Mr. and Mrs. William Henry Mortimer; one brother, Charles Turner Mortimer; and one sister, Alene Hamrick. Pallbearers are Murphy Jones, Mike Brister, Preston Mortimer, Billy Mortimer, Lamar Ellis, and Larry Greenlee. Honorary pallbearers are Y. M.
