I did some research on the submarine and found a nice history of the USS Albacore, including a photo of it and also a description of its demise, recorded by a Japanese patrol boat, the Fukuei Maru nr.7. http://www.uboat.net/allies/warships/ship/2964.html Ken Jan. 18, 1946 The Winona Times Winona, Ms. Death Reported Gordon H. Fullilove, Jr. Mr. & Mrs. Gordon H. Fullilove, Sr. have been notified by the Navy Deptment of the death of their son Gordon H. Fullilove, Jr., S 1/c. The submarine, Albacore, of which he was a crew member, doing patrol duty some where Northeast of Honshu Island, was last in action. It left Pearl Harbor October 24, 1944, & refueled at Midway Island October 28, 1944 & no word has been recieved from it since. Mr. & Mrs. Fullilove was notified Dec. 20, 1944, that their son was missing in action. He enlisted in the Navy July 3rd, 1943. He is survived by his parents, 3 sisters, Mrs. Edmon Chesteen, Miss Irene Fullilove, Mrs. LaNelle Page; 1 brother, Billy. Also his grandparents, Mr. & Mrs. Ira Flippen of McCarley, Miss.
