Oliver Funeral Home Online Obituaries Winona, MS June 16, 2009 Opal Montgomery Clark (May 27, 1921 - June 15, 2009) Funeral services for Opal Montgomery Clark of Tupelo, formerly of Kilmichael, will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Thursday, June 18, at Kilmichael United Methodist Church in Kilmichael, with interment to follow in Friendship Cemetery in Kilmichael. Rev. Barbara Lott will officiate the services, and Susan Salley will deliver the eulogy. Visitation will be Thursday, June 18, from 1:00 until 3:00 p.m. at Kilmichael United Methodist Church. Mrs. Clark died of heart failure on Monday, June 15, 2009, at Cedars Health Center in Tupelo. She was 88 years old. Mrs. Clark was the daughter of the late Ichabod and Ida Fox Montgomery. She was married for 68 years to the late Robert Ernest Clark, Sr., with whom she worked alongside for many years at R. E. Clark Grocery in Kilmichael. She was a member of Kilmichael United Methodist Church, where she served as a Sunday School teacher and Vacation Bible School teacher, and was a past president of the United Methodist Women. She was active in the community and was a member of the Kilmichael Women's Club. She was a faithful wife, loving mother and grandmother, and a devoted homemaker. She was known for her delicious homemade food and she loved feeding friends and family alike. Her beautiful yard and flowerbeds were enjoyed by all; and she had a unique ability to create gorgeous flower arrangements using anything from roses to wildflowers. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a son, Robert Ernest Clark, Jr., and a brother, Vernon Montgomery. Survivors include her daughter, Carol Clark Sarullo and her husband, Sonny, of Marietta, Georgia; her son, Bruce Clark and his wife, Cathy, of Tupelo; three sisters, Frances Fisher of Winona, Nell Salley of Nashville, Tennessee, and Sylvia Hood of Greenwood; three grandchildren, Chris Clark and his wife, Rona, of Brandon, Jason Clark and his wife, Kelly, of Tupelo, and Clark Sarullo of Marietta, Georgia. Pallbearers will be Leon Rogers, James Ed Rogers, Robert Rogers, Rodney Mortimer, Murray Lott, and Danny Russell. Honorary pallbearers will be Billy Hodges and Sonny Lott. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Kilmichael United Methodist Church Building Fund, P. O. Box 329, Kilmichael, MS 39747.
