(10) Thurman A. Self Funeral services for Thurman A. Self, 60, of Kosciusko were held Saturday at 2 p.m. at Jordan Funeral Home Chapel with burial in New Salem Cemetery. Self died Nov. 9, 2004 at Hospice in His Hands in Durant. He was employed as a mechanic by Caterpillar Tractor Company in Peoria, Ill., for 30 years and was a member of United Auto Workers Local 974. He was a Baptist, a Mason in the Blue Lodge, and a Shriner in the Temple Lodge in Peoria. He was a veteran of the United States Army serving during the Vietnam era. After his retirement in 1996 he moved back to the Kosciusko area where he served as a volunteer fireman in the Beat Three Fire Department, served on the Sugar Creek Water Association and was a volunteer for the Democratic Party and served as a RSVP Volunteer. He is survived by sons, Thomas Self of Hendersonville, Tenn., and Tim Self of Keyesport, Ill; two grandchildren; his mother, Dorothy Self, a brother, Ralph Self, all of West; sisters, Jerrie Dumas of Gainesville, Texas, Karen Kuhn of Gulfport, April Jordan of Hattiesburg. He was preceded in death by his father, Ralph F. Self Sr., a sister, Barbara F. Self, and a brother, Stacy L. Self Sr. Rev. Donald Self officiated. Mr. Armstrong, the husband of Fannie Dale Armstrong, also leaves three daughters, Shirley Channel of Ackerman, Donna Reed of Oxford and Martha Wiggins of Greenwood; two sons, Arkell Armstrong of Grenada and Eddie Armstrong of Kilmichael; two sisters, Bonnie Bridges and Neva Mason, both of Kilmichael; two brothers, James 'Runt' Armstrong of Milton, Fla., and Billy Armstrong of Winona, nine grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. John married Fannie Dell Sudduth, daughter of Edward Andrew Sudduth and Mattie Leona Ingram. (22) Dell Sudduth Chism Armstrong Services for Dell Chism Armstrong of Greenwood will be at 3 p.m. today at Bethsaida Baptist Cemetery in Montgomery County. Mrs. Armstrong, 74, died Friday, July 11, 2008, at Golden Age Nursing Home in Greenwood. Mrs. Armstrong was born in Skene on Dec. 15, 1933, to Edward and Mattie Sudduth and resided in the Greenwood area most of her life. She was a member of the Bethsaida Baptist Church in Montgomery County and worked for South Central Bell as an operator and Irvin Industries in quality control. She was preceded in death by her two spouses, John Chism and Lester Armstrong; two brothers, Jessie Wilburn Sudduth and Wilburn Edward Sudduth; and her parents. Her family would like to extend a sincere appreciation to Dr. Harold Wheeler, Dr. Kent Plunkett, the Fresenius Dialysis Center, Greenwood Leflore Hospital Dialysis Unit and the staff of the fourth floor for their diligent care, love and kindness to our mother. And also a very special thank you to the Golden Age Nursing Home Employees of the yellow wing for the love and care that was demonstrated to our Mother the past two and a half years. Wiggins of Carrollton; 10 step-grandchildren, Matt Reed of Biloxi, David Reed of Eugene, Ore., Christopher and Tonya Armstrong, both of Grenada, Jamie Axthelm of Batesville and Amanda Frazier, Melanie Armstrong, Casey Armstrong, Robert Channel and Johnnie Channel, all of Kilmichael. (24) Mrs. Shirley Ruth Channell Tuesday, September 14, 2004 Funeral services for Mrs. Shirley Ruth Channell, 55, were held at 2 p.m. Thursday, September 16, 2004 at Coleman Funeral Home Chapel in Ackerman. The Rev. Jimmy Flake and the Rev. Gary Jackson officiated. Burial followed in Bethsaida Baptist Church Cemetery. A native of Choctaw County and resident of Ackerman, Mrs. Channell was a manager for B-Quik stores. She was a member of Bethlehem Baptist Church. Mrs. Channell died Tuesday, September 14, 2004 at her home in Ackerman. Survivors include her husband, R.M. "Buddy" Channell of Ackerman; two sons, Robert Channell and John Channell, both of Ackerman; her mother, Betty Ruth Armstrong of Ackerman; two brothers, Arkell Armstrong of Grenada and Eddie Armstrong of Kilmichael; two stepbrothers, Gibby Mullins of Kilmichael and Keith Mullins of Winona; four stepsisters, Connie Greenlee of Kilmichael, Daphne Armstrong of Grenada, Gild Morrison of Tuscaloosa, Ala., and Natalie Burks of Jackson and seven grandchildren. Shirley married Robert Melvin "Buddy" Channell, son of Robert Wesley Channell and Myrtle Cleon Hunt, 20 Feb 1965. Robert was born 18 Dec 1941. They had two children: Robert Melvin and John Wesley.
