July 13, 1942 The Winona Times Winona, Ms. Mrs. Emma Harpole Pullen Mrs. Emma Harpole Pullen, 77, life-long resident of Montgomery County passed away at the home of her daughter, Mrs. E.C. Sykes in the Hays Creek community on Feb. 6th. 1942. She was the daughter of the late James & Mary Ann Whittle Harpole, pioneer settlers of Montgomery County & the widow of the late George A. Pullen, who preceded her in death in 1935. She is survived by 2 daughters, Mrs. E. C. Sykes with whom she made her home & Mrs. P.D. Scott of Itta Bena; 2 sons, J.W. Pullen of Indianola, & J. Leo Pullen of Greenwood; & 1 sister, Mrs. S.M. Sly of Morgan City. Funeral services were held Saturday morning Feb. 7th at 10 o'clock from her church, Hays Creek church, with the Rev. J.W. Eidson of Kilmichael assisted by the Rev. Joseph Flowers of Winona officiating. Interment was in Hays Creek cemetery with Lee Funeral Home in charge of arrangement. Serving as pallbearers were: Mark Bennett, Guy Coleman, Herman Wilkes, Bill Moorman, Yancy Bennett & J.E. Patridge.
