Ken, Concerning that Douglas/Palmertree mystery. I called the corner of McDonough Co.-Blandinsville, Ill --he said that some of the the corner records from 1970 had been destroyed by fire. That he had been corner of Mcdonough Co, for 20 yrs( Loudman was corner before him for a long period of time) & that he had NO Records of that shooting. I contacted the Illinois State Library- their record just go back to 1886, I contacted the Macomb Public Library( For Blandinsville, Ill) NO LUCK. Put in a request at the Western Illinois University Archives(#1-(309)-298-2717 talked to JEFF(said he would check on my request & get back to me)--no news as yet I contacted the Sheriff of McDonough County-Macomb, Ill -Rick VanBrooker was sent an arrest list of Douglass-1 Travis Douglas(Chicago, Ill,Cook Co.)-Don't remember date - charge failed to show. & Erica Douglas(Chicago, Ill, Cook Co).-Don['t remember date-charge violating bail. That arrest list for Sheriff of McDonough Co.. Ill- Rick VanBrooker doesn't come up anymore. I found a Travis Douglas in Clarksdale, Ms -about 81 yrs old- phone#(662) -624-8916. Wonder if this is the same Travis Douglas that lived in Cook Co. Says he is related to Shirley Douglas. Can't seem to find ANYTHING in the Chicago Tribune Archives!! Was told their records just go from 1855 to 1954. That thought that maybe this happened in Batesville, Ms. might be worth checking. Isn't Clarksdale in Quitman, Co./ Batesville is close in Panola Co? Somewhere I thought that I found a W.A.J. Palmertree & a William Palmertree that were born in Illinois. Those records that you & O.D. have says that these guys were born in Ms(seems to me like it was on a 1855 Illinois Census)-by this time I am a little confused - what with all this checking!! There is a Mary A. Palmertree listed in Cook Co.(Maybe Chicago) Born 1843 & Died in 1860 could this be the family of the Palmertree that shot this Douglas? I found a Douglas message board--sent work for an alert for this mystery. Hope this gets to you. I have awful time trying to get anybody but Peggy on the Palmertree roots. web. Couldn't find anything to verify a shooting in this Blandinsville, Ill that is in McDonough Do.
