The Winona Times Winona, MS November 23, 2011 Mavis Braswell Austin (May 17, 1925 - November 21, 2011) Funeral services for Mrs. Mavis Braswell Austin of Winona will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, November 23, at Oliver Chapel, with burial following in Oakwood Cemetery in Winona. Rev. Paul Trosper and Rev. Rupert Ingram will officiate the services. Visitation will be held from noon until 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday at the funeral home. Mrs. Austin died of heart failure on Monday, November 21, at Tyler Holmes Memorial Hospital in Winona. She was 86 years old. Mrs. Austin was the daughter of the late J. W. Braswell and the late Merley Yeatman, and the widow of the late Vernon Dick Austin. She was a retired employee of J. A. Olson Company in Winona and a member of Scotland Baptist Church in Winona. Survivors include her stepmother, Becky Braswell of Kilmichael; three daughters, Gale Nichols of Conehatta, Ann Stringer of Carson, and Jo Chambley of Brandon; three sisters, Bonnie Campbell of Greenwood, Brenda Card of Kilmichael, and Janice Howard of Winona; eight grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces and nephews. Pallbearers will be Chris Nichols, Brian Chambley, Roy Stringer, Lem Adams, Cody Horn, and J. W. Campbell.
