    1. [PTREE] Big Cats
    2. Peggy, I have heard them scream at night. I used to stay a lot in the summertime with my cousin, they lived down in the Arbuckle Mountains near the Turner Falls Area. South of Davis, Ok I-35. goes right through there now. We would lay in our beds and sometimes hear them, it was in the summertime and there were screens over the open windows. More and more people are seeing them around a pretty big area around here. Just down the street from us in the woods, I saw a young one laying on the side of the road, I think just stunned, and they are showing up on hunters cameras they leave in the woods. But last night Joe had gone to bed early to read and I was sitting here online, I thought I heard something that sounded like a big cat twice. Boy, that sound will put the fear in you really quick. Talk about Instant Full Alert. It took me about one second to be sitting straight and listening and then hearing the sound again. Of course I could imagine one on our front porch tearing the storm windows out and then the windows and coming right in to get me. ha I used to hear lots of coyotes every night either running from behind the house into the woods across the street from us. Some time it would sound so awful. I thought they must be killing something. I have seen rabbits so thought they were tearing one apart right out where I could hear it. I was telling my son-in-law who is the lifelong hunter and he said, "Ma, when you hear that, they are not killing anything." I said something else and he said "Trust me Ma, when you hear that, they Are Not Fighting," he was trying to avoid saying that they were getting it on. ha ha I was horrified! Sure didn't sound like fun to me. ha I have heard lots of things late at night out here, deer hooves clipping over the black top drive, that sounded cute, once when our front door was open about 9:30pm I heard a pack of hounds on the trail of something and could tell when they got confused and was just going around in one place confused. My Dad and friends were life long coon hunters and if we heard the sounds of hounds baying, everyone hushed and listened. I've heard lots of things but none as scary as last night when I heard those sounds. Years ago, when we moved out here, there was only one garage, it was across the driveway from our back porch, and it had no door at all. I heard those coyotes on every side of the house so often that when I got home after dark, that I would call Joe and have him come out on the back porch and then I would open the car door and walk to the porch. What was funny, but looked scary were a bunch of owls that lived in some trees near the driveway, when I turned off the road into our driveway after dark, lots and lots of times one of those owls would be sitting right in the middle of the driveway looking at me with those big old eyes, it was funny, but the first time it happened it looked so scary I didn't know what it was for a nano second! nothin' but a little ol' owl with big ol'eyes! I would have to honk to get it to move. Anyway, that's it for now! Nova OK I pass it back to you Peggy and Jeanine! In a message dated 10/30/2011 8:14:24 A.M. I'm enjoing you 2's stories. I need to get my nephew's address & send them to him. He & his wife are nurses & works at night 1 week & off 1 week. One of the weeks they were off, his son & wife was there from Hattiesburg & they were sitting on the pato around midnight. They begin to hear something barking behind the house. They thought it was calcotes. Sounded as if there was a fight going on, but then there was a scream like a woman. DD said "What was that?" Then DD & his wife Emily got up & left. I told Bobby that it was a panther. Bobby said about the time him & Denise got up to go inside, there was another scream across 84 hwy. Bobby said a stray dog had come there & had some puppies, & 1 day he went looking since he had don't seen the big dog, & found the puppies died with their heads bite off. He didn't know what would do that. Peggy

    3. I am really enjoying our stories, but can hardly wait until someone else comes on line with their stories.  For the people who has lived in town all their life has miss some fun.  Sometimes I wish I lived closer to town but my place is paid for, so I won't be moving, unless it's back to Monticello.   Valerie says I will move in with her in Southaven.  No thank you, for it's about a foot to the next door neighbor.  I enjoy hearing the animals not gun shots.  Guess the reason the others on line must have lived a very quiet life.  At church last night some were talking about the coyotes.  Someone had cut the head off of a coyote & put on their fence post.  I think around the airport in Greenwood, all the wild life is come back since Ken has moved away.    Peggy ________________________________ From: "[email protected]" <[email protected]> To: [email protected] Sent: Sunday, October 30, 2011 2:56 PM Subject: [PTREE] Big Cats Peggy, I have heard them scream at night.
