Nova, you might tell Reitha that hospice had some liquid pain medication that we gave my friend by mouth. He went thru the exact steps Donnie is going thru. Inside his mouth it looked like a solid white ulcer and I know it must have hurt awfully bad. I would let the liquid pain medication slip down his throat a drop at the time even in his sleep. He did not know the medicine was from hospice! He thought a nurse friend had gotten it. Didn't matter to us as long as it helped his pain. And it will be only a matter of days for Donnie. I guess I thanked the wrong person on this obit, Thank you Ken!! I do still want to thank both of you and Peggy for hanging in there and keeping the line going. **************************************************************************** ****************************** I spoke to Reitha, Donnie G's sister and he is getting pretty low. She didn't know if he would be able to talk if I called him or not. Some days are a little better than others. But sounds like there are no more Good days left. She told me that the none of his therapy and all that, was able to stop his pain. That in itself can sure get a person down after a while. Donnie is using a walker, earlier was trying to use a cane. But some days the walker does not help if he is too weak. And his not eating or not being able to eat much is not good for that. When this is happening to a good friend or relative, he told me once that we were Tater Vine Kin. I had never heard that before, we're kin to kin but not cousins like I had thought at first. But he was great. Too bad he was not ever able to get his email etc up and running. Reitha said theirs works at times but not all the time. I'm going to get him something in the mail today. Maybe he can read that and know we are thinking about him. Saying lots of prayers for him and family. Nova . In a message dated 10/3/2011 5:34:27 A.M. I am sorry to hear this news. I have really been a bad "cousin" and have not called to check on him as I should have. It just breaks my heart to talk to Retha about it. I have been down this road and I know first hand how hard this is. Really wish there was something we could do for all of them but all we can do is pray. Thanks everyone for the updates. ________________________________ From: Janie McNeer Palmertree <[email protected]> To: [email protected] Sent: Monday, October 3, 2011 3:39 PM Subject: Re: [PTREE] Thanks to Ken!! // Donnie update.
