Peggy, there were large fires both north and south of us but several miles away. They used helicopters with the water carriers to help out a lot. It is actually cold outside today. It sprinkled just a smidge earlier but sure hope we get a gully washer soon. Things are way too dry. I've had allergies for two weeks. Sure tired of that but we live in ten miles of dry grass, timber all around us. Speaking of timber. The former old school now church just down the street from us, that I pass anytime I'm going anywhere, has new owners and they put up a big new sign last year. It said "Where The Timber Cross." That looked so odd to me, it was up several months and then they were renovating, putting up new siding, roof and when the new sign went up this week, they had "Where The Timbers Cross." Whew, I feel better now. ha ha I'm no expert on things like that but that just sounded wrong to me. Joe said the weathermen were predicting it would not get higher than 85 degrees today, but it is cold outside right now 10:45am now so it may not get that high. But then again this is Oklahoma the Bipolar State so it might be sizzling by afternoon. Later Nova
I had heard Okla. was having some fires. I know it would be bad to lose your home & everything in it. Send me some of that cool weather. We only got a few drops of rain, so far. Valerie said they were getting a lot in Southaven. Jackson got 3-5 inches. It is a little cooler but not like I like it. Hope everyone gets a little of Lee. Take care. I looked at the rain gauge when we come in from church & had less then 1/2 inche. Plus I made a booboo, for Jackson has got over 8 inches. I just hope the hummingbirds don't get blowed away. Don't have as many as last week. From: Ed brown <[email protected]> To: [email protected] Sent: Sunday, September 4, 2011 2:14 PM Subject: Re: [PTREE] Peggy, no fires very close to us.
