    3. Donna, My aunt Elizabeth Weldon Palmertree Turner lived on Hope street, as did my fathers' brother, uncle Rogers. She lived two houses from the railroad tracks, and he lived in the last house at the other end of the street. Spent many a summer hour playing in that neighborhood. You wouldn't even recognize it now. I always thought it was strange that every house was built the same. They had a small kitchen, small bathroom, a small living room, two small bedroom and a small hallway. Also had a small concrete porch in front. Tell you a funny story on me at aunt Elizabeth's house one day. Such memories. I can still see in my mind the Chinese market over on Carrollton Avenue where we would take a quarter and get a soda or ice cream novelty during those hot summers. Oh, to be a kid again.... 3. I'm not Peggy, but here's your answers Ken Peggy, the first thing I am doing today is tell you what I have found. You may already know all this but here goes. I was interested in the obit for Peggy Strain Ellington since I have Ellington's in my own family (McNeers). I had already dug around and figured out she was grand daughter of Bertie Gibson and her mother was Hazel Marie Gibson. I did have David and Peggy Ellington in my data base. Had info there I did not already have in Palmertree family. If memory serves me right today they were married in 1959. Bertie Curtis' husband went by the name of R. Lonnie Gibson, b Oct 26 1876 d. Aug. 12 1946 Find A Grave #22701726.. He was the son of "Abe" (with the long name) who was son of Rhodes Alonzo and Lisa Parkerson. Still have two questions: 1. who were the parents of Lisa Elizabeth Parkerson? John Calhoun Parkerson and Mary Aalice Gibson 2. What to do with Elizabeth "Lisa" Yeager? Answered in last night's mail... On Find-A-Grave website I find her listed as wife of Alonzo R Gibson. They have a picture of a tombstone what says "L E wife of A. R. Gibson. b. Sep 8 1830 and d. Dec 18, 1913. This stone says nothing about Yeager or Parkerson. Could they be the same person? -----Original Message----- From: Peggy Palmertree Sent: Saturday, November 10, 2012 7:30 PM To: palmertree@rootsweb.com Subject: Re: [PTREE] Alonzo Gibson/Bertie Ann Curtis A.R. 3. I am still looking for any info on Lloyd T. Grantham who was a preacher from over in the Poplar Creek area and ended up in Abilene, Texas. He preached a lot of funerals back in the day and was the pastor at the little church beside my house for awhile before going to Texas. He was an evangalist and came back and preached around Winona and across the river for years before his health got bad. I don't remember the year he died. He had a daughter named Jeanette who married Gerald Cates. At least the "first lady" can dress the part instead of coming off like a cotton picker. I was so ashamed when she came out as the President's wife with a doo-rag on her head in 2008 and a dress that made me weep. It's all a game between the haves and have -nots. My take on this, anyway. 3. Peg, Thanks for finding and sending that obit. "Boomie" was a special person to me. I spent many hours at her trailer (which was behind her daughter's home in Green Acres-sub division in Greenwood). Ate many meals from her table, too. She had a thing for pork steak. I also found out what "wench" and another word for "old geezer" was, but can't remember that now. I also learned to not say those words because they were improper. Funny - she could say them, but I got really reprimanded when I tried them out!! 3. Gang, I've only seen his name as Sion Pilate Hunt. Never heard the "Scion" name. I looked at this website, then I looked at Dunbar Rowland's "Military History in Mississippi" and indeed I believe his death can be traced to a specific event. The reference to Baldwin in his military record did it. Baldwin MS is located between Corinth and Tupelo and that pretty much agrees with Dunbar Rowland's account of what happened to this regiment in May and June 1862. I couldn't have figured this out without your help. 1. [PTREE] Thrailkill, Mississippi

    3. Gang, Google is your friend! It seems like it was a small community in Montgomery Co., MS off HIway 43. Here's a link to a map for it: http://mississippi.hometownlocator.com/maps/feature-map,ftc,3,fid,683334,n,t hrailkill.cfm Ken -----Original Message----- From: palmertree-bounces@rootsweb.com [mailto:palmertree-bounces@rootsweb.com] On Behalf Of pdacus@gulftel.com Sent: Tuesday, December 04, 2012 2:08 PM To: palmertree@rootsweb.com Subject: [PTREE] Thrailkill genealogy I'm researching William Carroll Thrailkill. I read somewhere, can't remember where now, that WC moved to Acadia Parish, LA in 1882 with his daughter Irena Frances Milner and became postmaster. But he was buried in Bethsaida Cemetery when he died in Oct. 1884. Does anyone have any information as to how that happened? Did he return to MS before he died, or was he brought back to be buried (which seems unlikely in those days since they travelled by wagon). Also, can anyone tell me anything about Thrailkill, MS? I know WC's son was postmaster in 1885. And supposedly there was a cave there where Confederate deserters hid. Where exactly was Thrailkill located? I would love to hear whatever anyone has to share.
