    1. [PTREE] "Tom" Sanders
    2. od mcelroy
    3. Ken, For the entire time of my research, I have been looking for the parents of "Tom" Sanders. I don't know if Tom was short for Thomas or not but I have him as William Tom Sanders, born-15 Oct 1882 and died 29 Jan 1918. He married Mary Dora Bailey, 23 Dec 1906 in Attala County, she was born 8 Jun 1880 and died 20 Oct 1977. She later, married Drew M. Cartledge in Montgomery County. Tom and Mary Dora are buried in Friendship Cemetery, north Attala County. They had one daughter Emmie J., born-24 Mar 1908 and died 26 Jul 2001. She married Ernest Duel Strain... Both are buried in Bethsaida... They still have 2 living children, I think, that may know the name of their Great Grandfather. Thanks to anyone line that can help me with this... I have Tom and family in the 1910 Attala Census... O.D. ============================================= 1910 Census Attala County, Mississippi. District-8. Beat-3. Zilpha. Page-198A. 24 April 1910. 1. [PTREE] Adelbert Barrentine
    2. Ken Jackson
    3. O.D., Lynn, Donny and Peggy, This is really beginning to start to make sense to me. Centerville Baptist is located about 2.5 miles from my place in Carroll County. It is where most all my people are buried, and the Barrentine's own a lot of land around the church, cemetery and miles around. Matter of fact, I think it was William Albert Barrentine, Sr. who gave the land for the cemetery to either be created or expanded. I have known these folks all my life, and could tell you some stories about them - ha. If we need to, I can get in touch with those living Barrentine's and see if they can give me any information regarding this family - especially the Adelbert Barrentine. Thanks, O.D., for reminding me of his burial place. If I was back home I know I could make some progress on this. But I can sure do some contacting by phone, and I will do that in the next week or so. Wouldn't it be great if I could find some family photos for Lynn and Robert??? Ken -----Original Message----- Lynn and Ken, I really doubt that we will ever get any more hard facts about Tabatha and the Barrentine that was Delbert's father. But you can bet we now have the correct man... Ulysses Adelbert Barentine 24 September 1874-12 June 1893 Buried in Centerville Cemetery, Carroll County, Mississippi O.D.

    1. [PTREE] Evans Family Members Photo
    2. Ken Jackson
    3. Gang, I thought explaining some of the relationships in this new photo might help you understand who's who here. Ken Evans Family Members Photo I would definitely date this photo as circa 1895-1896 because of the apparent ages of the children here. Back: David E. McClellan (son of Aaron David McClellan and Sabra Hambrick); William Reason Evans (son of William Lee Evans and Martha Ella Herring); Columbus L. "Lum" Evans (son of William Lee Evans and Martha Ella Herring and husband of Minnie "Mittie" Morgan); David Wiley Rogers (husband of Mattie Greenlee); Bryant Jackson "Bry" Herring (Husband of Sallie Austin, and father of Maybelle Herring and Grover Cleveland "Cleve" Herring - Bry also married Lizzie Chesteen in 1894 and then Leona Matthews in 1914); Albert Wiggins McClellan ( son of Aaron David McClellan and Sabra Hambrick, and brother of David E. McClellan); Middle: Mary Lee Evans (Daughter of William L. Evans and Martha Ella Herring, wife of David E. McClellan, sister of Lum and William Evans); Biddie Gronles(?) (could this possibly Biddie Rogers? She would have been about 14 in this photo, and she looks like a girl of about that age. If so, She was the daughter of Charlie Seth Rogers and Martha Ferguson. She married Ernest McElroy and Jessie Gregg); Mattie Rogers (Mattie Greenlee, daughter of Bud Greenlee and Matilda Biggers, wife of David Wilie Rogers); Sallie E. Evans (daughter of William L. Evans and Martha Herring, and sister of Lum and William Evans); Henry King (I think this is Henry D. King, son of Henry B. King and Lucy? I really can't figure a relationship to any of the others in this photo). Front: Cleve Herring - b/1892, and May Belle Herring - b/ 1887 (children of Bry Herring and Sallie Austin.) James Arthur Evans(son of William L. Evans and Martha Herring, and brother of Lum and Reason Evans.)

    3. That's very interesting information. I am sort of persistent, and it is hard for me to let anything go. Even when I lose something, I can not stop looking until I find it. Sometimes it takes a long time, but I keep on going. My husband has learned to just ignore me during this time. Unfortunately, I usually put things where I think it will be a safe place, then I can't remember that safe place. But, by golly, it's safe, that's for sure. I have spoken (via email) with Bobby Palmertree (Donny's dad, Delbert's son, Robert's half-brother), and he seems rather excited to have found other siblings. He said he knew there was another son and had heard his father mention Fay (Robert's mom), but was unsure. It excites me so to finally find out all of this information. I have been married to Robert for 33 years, and in all that time I have wanted to explore this man who fathered my husband. I just didn't want to hurt or upset anyone. You never know when you start looking for someone how they will react. Something like this happened to my uncle years ago. He had been separated from his mother or father, can't remember which, since he was about 2 years old. For some reason he kept remembering a baby, but no one was talking. Not long before he died at age 42, he did some digging. And found out that when his parents split, his sister went with the other parent. Now, Uncle Herman had a daughter named Dixie. Guess what his sister's name was? You guessed it - Dixie. She had no idea there was a brother in her family. Okay, so that's enough for now. I get started and can not quit. I guess because I have been so interested in my family ancestors for so long. I have books on my Higginbotham side, my Vanlandingham side, and my Easley side. It makes it easier when someone else has done so much of the hard work.
