    3. My neighbor down the street sends a newsletter every year for several years now. Made with this collage of pictures of folks I don't know except for her immediate family. She shares the good and not so good of the past year. I guess I don't really mind getting it. We're not as close as we once were, but at least she remembers me.........Donnie ----- Original Message ----- From: "Jeannine K Smith" <jks1@ra.msstate.edu> To: <palmertree@rootsweb.com> Sent: Tuesday, December 23, 2008 6:37 AM Subject: Re: [PTREE] Bad Christmas Letters > > Snip > I receive a couple of the other kind, my younger sister calls them "My > Life Is So Much Better Than Your Life Christmas Letters." > > > This is too funny! 3. Sean, So good to hear from a new cousin! I look forward to sharing information with you regarding your PALMERTREE and DOWNS family lines. So, who are your parents? If your surname is Rotkiske, then is Linda L. Palmertree your mother? If so, I only her have married once to an (Unknown) Cummings, with no further information. If you would be willing to fill in some gaps for us on your family line, we sure would appreciate it! Hope to hear from you again soon. Ken From: sean.r@comcast.net [mailto:sean.r@comcast.net] Sent: Monday, December 22, 2008 9:16 AM To: palmertree_tree@bellsouth.net Subject: CE Palmertree Greetings, I performed a random search today trying to verify a mailing address for my uncle Edward and came upon your rootsweb Palmertree web page! I can't begin to tell you how stunned I was to see the pictures of Floyd, James and Clarence. Clarence is my Grandfather. He met my grandmother Edna Kehs Palmertree while stationed at Fort Indian Town Gap. My family still lives in Reading and Philadelphia PA. I look forward to a more detailed review of the data in this website. I will also provide you with a detailed list of my grandfathers descendants. I look forward to learning more. I am especially interested in the possible existence of photos of my great grand parents especially Emma Downs Palmertree. Regards, Sean M. Rotkiske

    3. Gang, I got this interesting email from a cousin who accidentally stumbled upon the Palmertree Family History Website. He is the grandson of Robert Lee and Emma Downs Palmertree. (Great-grandson of Thomas Newton and Roxie Gibson Palmertree). Did anyone here determine if we have a photo of Robert Lee Palmertree and/or Emma Downs, or other ancestors of Sean? If so, or if you can point him to another family member who can help him, please reply to him to: sean.r@comcast.net Thanks. 1. [PTREE] Happy Anniversary!
    2. Ken Jackson
    3. Gang, I've sent this twice today (Dec 22nd), but have not seen it come through yet. So I'm sending it again. I realize it's late, now, but please call and wish them a belated Happy 50th Anniversary. Ken ----------------------------------------------- Gang, Kathy Allen Hall asked me to send this to the list for her. Everyone local that knows Barbara and Sidney, please give them a call and wish them a Happy 50th!! I know they would appreciate being remembered on their special day. Thanks!! Ken Hey Ken, Just wanted you to post this to the mailing list for me. Barbara Varner Allen and Sidney Thomas Allen will be celebrating their 50TH wedding anniversary on Monday, Dec 22nd. Her vision is too bad to use the web anymore so she will not see any messages. If any one of you guys know them and have a spare minute, they would love to have a phone call just to hear Happy Anniversary. Their number is 662-262-9264. Thanks a bunch and MERRY CHRISTMAS Kathy Hall

    2. Do any of you receive those bad Christmas letters? Each year a friend of mine calls and reads me the latest from someone she knows through their kids' sports. I thought the woman was just being funny a couple of years, but it is still the same after three years. It is like a Jerry Springer show. Last year she had lots of fodder for the letter, on & on about nasty divorce of daughter, son jobless and not wanting to find a job. I asked how she was in person and my friend said "Well, when you see her at the highschool football games, that's pretty much how she is." I receive a couple of the other kind, my younger sister calls them "My Life Is So Much Better Than Your Life Christmas Letters." I also receive neat ones that I really enjoy. 3. While the greetings are going around, Merry Christmas from California. I've actually got 4 days off starting tomorrow, but no big plans. I'll cook as usual and then see who shows to help eat it. Have fun but remember, if you drink, don't drive. We don't want anybody getting banged up or worse. Have a happy and safe Christmas and New Year.........Donnie

    3. Thank you Buckoo!! Being married to this P'tree will make you "Grinch". So you will see what is under tree for him. The same thing I got everyone else on line. It has took me 42 years but I finally done it. A big nothing or 0. If it had not been for the girls I would not have had nothing from him, but he fussed so much, I just told them to forget it. He has the first $ he ever earned. He tells me not to buy so many gro. but when I don't buy "treats" he complaines about that. He fussed at me for buying the "grands" a lot, but he sure enjoyed watching them open the presents from me. To me, Christmas isn't for grown ups, it for the small children. So I've watched Hadley & Bryson open their gifts but 2 from me, & my Christmas is over. I had a good one. Val is coming in Wed. with her 3 dogs, so that is Basil's 3 grands. MERRY CHRISTMAS to everyone. 1. Re: [PTREE] Merry Christmas from Oklahoma
    2. Thanks Ken, in my first email, my spell checker didn't recognize "rolicky" it offered to change it to all kinds of different things. I still love to use the funny old words my dad and my grandparents used, makes me feel closer to them and also gives my LaJolla, CA. twelve year old grandson something to tease me about. Sometimes I use them on purpose and sometimes they just pop out, he gets such a kick out of repeating them to me on the phone for months afterward. 2. Ken Jackson
    3. Gang, Peggy shared this update on Virginia with me today. She saw Virginia's brother, Carl William Overstreet at a family get-together today and asked him about Virginia, since we haven't heard a peep from her in ages. William said that Virginia has had two major surgeries this year, and is living in a rehabilitation care facility while she recuperates. She plans to go back home to live on her own again as soon as her rehabilitation is complete. I know we all wish her well with regaining her health. Ken

    1. [PTREE] Merry Christmas from Oklahoma
    2. Hello Everyone, We finally found something that would work out here in no man's land. We signed up on Hughes.net and it is working!! Yea!! Our location is just not good for the ones that use signal towers or whatever, well, they would work part of the time but not all of the time and that was really frustrating. I've missed all the fun emails from you guys and hope everyone was doing great. I hope Ken and Peggy didn't get too rolicky. Don't know how to spell that but that's a word my Grandma Mary Ann would use when kids would get into a 'spirited discussion". I'm way behind this Christmas and don't know if I will get it all done. I'm now thinking about what I have to do and not everything I always just do. If that makes any sense to you. We've not had any snow at our place but there have been reports of scattered snow over the northern parts of the state. We saw on TV how bad it's been in some places. I feel for them.
