I wondered how it was mover also. Yes the fire place was in the middle of one room and the kitchen was something different with a window on the side looking down I think an old wood barn or something on the right. That's good to know Janice. I was desperate to find a drummer with drums for the first hoedown. Wound up getting my ex brother in law, Mickey Suit, from Ark. I was actually trying to borrow his drums, but got him too! I think Al can play drums too. Drummers are hard to find in Montgomery/Choctaw counties. Jancie, Thanks for sharing those URLs with us. I enjoyed listening to them. Hope to finally meet you (and lots of other cousins from the list) at the Hoedown. Thanks, Don, for organizing and sponsoring another Poplar Creek event this year!! Ken
Wasn,t he married to a Jones girl, I think the name was Loree or something like that. If he is the one Peggy, talk to Jeff Tompkins, I think his grand mother was Aunt Sylvia sister or half sister. Ed, do you know a Benny Ralph Mitchell, 68? He will be buried at Chapel Hill. His obit. is in the Star Herald.
No Patsy, it's a different house. I remember I liked the floor plan. Three bedrooms, 1 bath and had a long kitchen. I think Wayne Walker had lived in the house at one time in Choctaw Co. I loved fishing in the pond across the woods behind the house. The house that was moved to P Creek is up the hill a ways behind a locked red, iron gate on the south end (I think?) of the place. He moved it in not very long before he passed away if I remember right. The house has not rotted down, but somebody knocked the glass out of the windows and it could use work for sure. The roof must've been in decent condition when it was moved to have kept water from damaging after this many years (at least 38 because my grandfather died in Dec. 1970). -------------- Original message from "patsy williamson" <patswill@bellsouth.net>: -------------- > I missed out on what house you are talking about. Hey Patsy, We were talking about a house on Kell Walker's place in Choctaw Co. When my grandpa, Louis Green and my grandma remarried around '63, they lived in that house. Soon after, my mom, sister and I moved in with them there. I heard he house was cut in two pcs. years later and moved to Poplar Creek. LOL! He doesn't have a band, but he's a guitar player. If he isn't playing, he probably will come. But, I learned early on not to say for sure cause sure as I do he'll have to go play some place. If y'all want to hear some of the stuff that he has played on here are some songs that you can play online you can go to this page and click on "Gonna See a Change" or "Crosstown Boogie" and he's playing on both of them http://www.soundclick.com/bands/default.cfm?bandID=112277 all of the songs on that page are written, sung and played by friends. But my personal favorite (besides the one that Bud's playing on) is "Consider Me", that's some good Christian music in my opinion. And here's some stuff that he produced and played on.... http://cdbaby.com/cd/countryboyrs My favorite on this page might be Valentine Partner.... Here's his myspace page http://www.myspace.com/budleybays > Don, > > Don't forget that Jancie's husband plays with a band, too...........
I missed out on what house you are talking about. Please repeat the name of who ever owned it back then.
