    2. Ken, I've heard just a bit about those chimps getting out of control. For a little while in the 80s, the owner of Washoe, the chimp who was taught American Sign Lanuage had his program at OU. One of his employees (his wife taught at our school) came to speak at the school where I was working. It was really interesting. He said you had to work differently with all the different personalities. Once they had a tour by American Sign Language students and they were blown away by the chimps doing all the signing. Those chimps made up words also, I wish I could remember all of them but the two that I've never forgotten were, they called Brazil nuts - rock nuts and swans - water birds. Every Christmas when I buy the mixed nuts, I think of those chimps because I think Rock Nuts are a much better name. He also told about some older chimp who would sell his soul for a raisin. Reminds me of our Chico, who is a very well fed little dog that will start jumping, flipping and turning around when he sees me open the front door with one treat. But this guy also warned of the damage the chimps could do with one swipe of a hand. I like them in the zoo, not my neighorhood. 3. Have any of you been keeping up with the news about those Chimps Gone Wild? There was one chimpanzee that attacked it's trainer a month or two ago and literally ripped his face up. And the one that attacked the woman in Florida today ripped her face off and bit off both her hands. There is a report that the woman who owned the chimp in Florida had just given it a cup of Xanax-laced tea about 5 minutes before. I guess it didn't like it. He got out in the yard and wouldn't come back in, so the owner called her friend next door to come help her get it back in the house. It obviously didn't like her friend, because she is the one that got attacked. Can you imagine trying to help someone and winding up almost dead? That is just too scary. Ken

    3. ----- Original Message ----- From: od mcelroy To: EMMITT CHANNEL Sent: Monday, February 16, 2009 6:08 PM Subject: Research Hi Emmitt, I was looking at some of the family trees today for Andrew Patterson Ray and came upon the one that you have. I have been doing some research for my daughter-in-law as they never really knew who her Bridges grand parents were. After some research I found that William M. Bridges and his wife Sarah Frances [Unknown] was buried in Poplar Springs Cemetery. That was about 4 or 5 years ago and we have put flowers on their graves since then. For the 2nd part of the story we always wondered what her last name could have been. As one of her sons was named "Lee Dobbs Bridges" all of the living family thought that she was a "Dobbs". As she died in 1941 I decided to send for her death certificate. Last week I received it and it listed he father as Pat Ray and her mother as Sadie Crowder. There was no problem for finding Andrew P. Ray as he is buried in Pine Bluff Cemetery by the side of one of his sons, William, [W.C. Ray]. The 1860 Choctaw County Census for a 23 year old seems to be right on track but it list his wife as Elizabeth A., 16 years old and Isabella as their 2 year old daughter. Elizabeth A. could be our "Sadie" but did Sarah Frances change her name from Isabella??? Could she have been Sarah Frances Isabella Ray??? Her headstone and death certificate gives her birth date as 19 October 1856. Of course both of these may be in error as so many are. The Information for her Death Certificate was given by her youngest son Sell Boyd Bridges... I hope that you are doing fine as for Francine and I we are about as always and staying closer to home. I don't like to drive very far at night. I go to Starkville with my oldest son sometime to see the Bulldogs play basketball so that way I have a driver... O.D.
