    3. Just wondering if anyone had heard from Ken. The weather reports on TV make it look like tornadoes are close to the area where Ken lives. Just wondered if he had checked in lately. Dorothy

    3. I wore hats and gloves to church long past my girlhood. That started to change in late 60s I think. ----- Original Message ----- From: <bkgagent@bellsouth.net> To: <palmertree@rootsweb.com> Sent: Thursday, April 09, 2009 6:01 PM Subject: [PTREE] Easter Memories > Are any of the other "girls" on our list old enough to remember being > expected to wear hats and gloves to church? 1. [PTREE] death
    2. peggy palmertree
    3. Ken, you are surely on your toes. I didn't know Mrs. Olene had died. I got up this morn. getting ready to go see the dentist. So I had not turn the radio on, & no one call. Saw Francine at Wal Mart & she said OD couch all night. So it looks as if what the dr. had done really didn't do him any good. Maybe someone needs to find some of that "white-lightening" & give too him. I know with the pollen & the temp. going up & down isn't good for some folks. Thank goodness I haven't had the sinus mess in a couple of years. Hope everyone will have a good Easter. Looks as if the bunny is going to get wet around here Sunday. Ok I know something everyone can tell; how was your Easter when you were young or what did you do for your children????? I would get a new dress (even if it was home-made) & then on Sat. night Mother & I would dye the eggs, but the Bunny would bring candy & put in my basket & some small toy. This one was told to me by a friend; Her mother would get up on Sunday morn. & boil & dye the eggs & then go out & hide them. One Easter as she was coming by into the house, she met her son go out to look for the eggs. When he found them he ran back into the house just a yelling "Mom, I almost caught the rabbit for the eggs are still warm" Happy Easter everyone.

    1. [PTREE] Connection
    2. peggy palmertree
    3. Deb, I had to go & figure out the connection, so to make a long story short: Mamie Dell's grandmother, was Mary Elizabeth Palmertree before she married. Eliza was the daughter of Wiley P'tree, who had a bro. name William, who is/was my husband Basil's great great grandfather. I can not put your Walker's & Basil's grandfather Duran Walker together. Think there is not connection. Duran's father, James W. was from S.C. Came to Miss. after the Civil War. Hope I haven't screwed your mind up too bad. My figures (most of the time) can't type just like I would want them too, with my saw dust brain. Just hang in there & maybe we all can get you straight, where you come in. Peggy

    1. [PTREE] information
    2. deb
    3. Thanks Peggy I get that since I am a "newie" I am trying to soak in all of the information I can. I am Mamie Dell Varner Walker's granddaughter by her daughter Maurine Walker Peterson. Mom was born in Heathman Ms and her father was George Harris Walker DOB 11/09/1897. His Parents were Thomas Jefferson Walker and Frances Eugine and I think I found information that her last name was Harris. (I am just a beginner at looking up information and joined Ancestry.com) but I believe I found the record of their marriage of July 5 1878 in Carol County MS. If you ever come across any information on the walker please fill me in. My grandfather George H Walker SR. had a twin Jon and brothers James, Henry and a sister Polly there might have been others too. I am having a Family reunion on Aug 1st this summer and everyone is welcome. The bad thing is I live in Pittsburgh PA but only 15 min from the airport. We could love to have any of the Palmertrees and other "COUSINS" come and just meet and tell stories. It is at my home, which I thought would be better than a park because older folks can find a bed or a place to rest where its cool and you don't have to use a public restroom (my phobia being a nurse). I would have loved to take a week and just explored the area my grandparents were from this year but the surgery I had but a lid on that. Have to watch my vacation time incase anything comes up regarding the surgery. My Mom has 1 brother living. George Harris Walker JR. and he lives in West Memphis Ark. and is in his late 70's or early 80's Mom is 83. I would love to find out as much as I can to go over it with her. As I come up with things she remembers a story to go along with it. The ones about her Father's wife "MA FLO" has had me in tears. Told me that FLO had a huge trunk in her room that no one knew what was in it (didn;t stink so could not have been a body) and every once in a while Flo's brother would come up and they would go in the room and lock the door and get or put stuff in the trunk. Now wouldn't love to know what was there. I bet profits from the bootlegging and whoring. Well enough its 1am in Pittsburgh cold as hell and snowing. pain meds have kicked in so its off to bed if I can inch the hubby out of the way and the 5 pound Yorkiepoo Maggie don't beat me to my pillow. One last time. Can you figure out how we as specifically related. and a bit about myself. I am a RN BSN Nurse Case manager and work for Highmark BC BS in Pittsburgh, Married to Dave Peace and have a 12 yr old girl Katie Maurine, a 13 yr old son Nathaniel David, a 15 yr old stepson Chris (who lives with is mom in FLA thank God cause he is a hand full) and a 19 yr old son from a previous marriage David Sean who currently lives with my mom. (He keeps an eye on her for me and I tell her he is there to make sure she don't start bringing any men home for extra cash on the side) My dad Del Peterson died in 1991 and she had never even gone out to dinner with another man, said when you lose your soul mate there is no one else there and he is just passin time in heaven waiting for her. I tell her if she happens to dream about him and he says come here run the other way and say she's not done telling me what to do. Blessings and have a good night. 1. [PTREE] Thanks Everybody
    2. Thanks to everybody for your thoughts, prayers and phone calls to check and see how we are doing. As anybody who has lost a parent knows; it's really hard and every kind word means so much. I love and treasure all of you and the support was very much appreciated. It crossed my mind just a minute ago how our ancestors would be pleased and amazed at how we are keeping in touch and communicating to learn more about their lives and how we are connected. Can y'all imagine the fun our great-great grandchildren will have reading these emails when we are long gone? We leaving a kind of internet family time capsule, isn't that cool? Maybe we should all contribute an individual entry of information that we want them to find here when they show up? Your friend and cousin. Jan
