Hi gang Just wanted to thank everyone for their prayers for the test I had to take. I was so sick that day and probably should have gone to the er 3 or 4 days before but kept thinking I have to push through and take it. Well I just got my results and I PASSED!!!!!!!!!!!! I spoke to a friend who also took the test and she stated that she doubled up on prayers for me because I looked so bad that day, got to the exam site after her and finished with her. Its AMAZING what prayers can do. Is there anyone who lives in Carroll MS? I am trying to find out information on my Grandfather Walker's side and am at a stand still. Again my thanks Deb
WOW, now that is really a story of bravery and courage. Thanks for sharing that one Peggy. Nova The recommendation reads as follows: "Upon, notification that a marine enlisted man lay badly wounded in a mine field close to his position, Warrant Officer Hilliard E. Chesteen, Jr., rushed to the scene & without hesitation or thought for his own safety, walked about 35 yards into a known heavily mined field, rendered first aid to the wounded man & evacuated him from the mined field. after the wounded man was taken from the danger area, WOJG Chesteen then signaled to the pilot of a passing heliocopter, who immediately landed & evacuated the wounded man to the hospital. -----Original Message----- From: peggy palmertree <psmpalmertree@bellsouth.net> To: PALMERTREE@rootsweb.com Sent: Fri, 29 May 2009 8:20 am Subject: [PTREE] Old news June 27, 1952 The Winona Times Winona, Ms. Recommended For Award of Medal Warrant Officer Hilliard E. Cousin Lola is still living here in Grenada. Her name is Lola Ingram Forbes. Her mom was Stella Applewhite. I called her Aunt Stella but I think that she was actually my great, great aunt. She was a sister to my grandmother Erma Tompkins Walker's mother, Eliza Josephine Applewhite Tompkins. Lola and L. T. Forbes (everybody called him "Forbes") had two sons, Richard and James. Richard graduated from West Point Academy and from there, the only thing I ever knew that he did was to teach in the engineering department at MSU and it seems he did something in real estate but I can't remember what. James owns a sawmill in Alabama. I think the name of the company is Millry Mill Company if my memory is working today. -------------- Original message from "patsy williamson" <patswill@bellsouth.net>: -------------- > What was Richard's Mother's name. Jim, I had no idea there was so much interesting history about this story. I've read bits and pieces over the years about the kidnapping but certainly not about 25 people involved some way with that trial etc. Still having trouble getting service out here where I live. One day as Joe walked by as I sat here trying to get on, he heard it say "You've got mail." and then "Goodbye" just as quickly. Hughes is a problem also out here.
