Laney was convicted in the shooting death of Deputy Sheriff Charles Busby Smith, Jan. 12 & was sentenced to death. Records in the courthouse & the memories of those who have been around for a long time, indicate the only preions death penalty ever imposesd was on Wilson Pullen. Pullen was convicted of the murder of Dave McClelland on Oct. 17, 1935. He was condemned to death on the gallows & the sentence was carried out in the jail yard in Winona in the early morning hours of June 19, 1936.
Jerry, I just got another one of the weird emails from your email address. I think you probably need to get a new one. I will see if I can find the information you need to use for hackers. Peggy, I know I'm late in getting back to this. You know how it is with me. Seems I'm always in school or in a hospital, recovering from surgery, or going to one of the many doctor appointments I have every week. I do still check the list though every chance I get. I don't have your phone number anymore, I've been through a couple of cell phones trying to find one that works everywhere I have to go between here and Brandon, MS. Not to mention the one that just totally died and lost everything. Anyway, next time you're up this way give me a hollar. My number is still 901-205-4751. I can't believe I missed the Hoedown this year. There wasn't as much talk about it as usual so I somehow missed it. I had surgery again in July with a lot of medical mess for the month before it. I'll be back down that way on Sept. 8th for my follow-up so maybe we can meet up for dinner or tea or something on my way through. I'll try to do better with replies, now that I'm back in school I'll be online more. I'm still on facebook usually at least every few days to keep up with the kids and share pictures of my grands. Miss y'all. Yesterday I went by the street where to turn but was going to a graduation. Valerie is a nurse now, & maybe I won't be hearing, Aunt Peggy I need some money.
