The Rowan County, NC Vacant Land Entries, 1778-1789 show the following entry: Philip ROUCH 500 A. on W. side of Second Creek adj.Alexander CLINGERMAN & Philip ARONHART including his own improvment. Made over to Fred CLIMINGER by Rough's Admrs. Philip RAUCH died (probably in 1880) and an inventory of what has been described as his "huge estate" was returned to the Rowan County Court on 7 Aug 1781 Peter, my gggg grandfather, moved from Rowan County to Lincoln County (now Catawba) north of what is now Conover about 1800. Peter's first child, Elizabeth, was born in 1800 and he purchased 69 acres on Lyle's Creek in 1801 where he built a home that is still standing today. We have not been able to definitely establish who Peter's wifes were or whether he had two or three. We know his first wife, believed to be the mother of all his children was named Sabina and her last name possibly being HARTMAN. He married his second wife, Rachel LIPE(widow of John BOST)
