Lyn, Based on my research on the emmigration wave from Lehigh to Seneca, it appears that the Bennyhoffer family began to arrive in Seneca Co., Ohio at least by 1845, and probably earlier. However, I have not yet run across Peter. My information has come from a variety of sources, and I am sure that there are hundreds of people that I have not yet found. Can you shed any more light on this family & their movements? Also, I have the following. Augusta & Hanna (Strauss) Schiffert were in Seneca Co. from Lehigh around 1845. Augusta died in 1847. Hanna then married John Bennyhoff in 1854. I believe that John was also married before, but I am not sure to whom. John died in 1879 at his home while cutting firewood, of a stroke. I believe strongly that Augusta Schiffert was a brother of Sarah Schiffert, who was married to my grgr grandfather, Reuben Hartzell. I believe that these Schifferts were from Whitehall Twp. Any further info is much appreciated.
