Dear folks: Here is a brickwall I'm hoping someone can help me tear down. My great great grandfather, Charles Elmer Miller died in Luzerne County in 1924. His obit says he was born in "Rockpost, Lehigh County" in 1845. No one seems to have ever heard of Rockpost. I have gotten responses to this question which I previously posted and all of them suggested that Rock Port, Lehigh Twp., Carbon County may be the place. But extensive census research turned up nothing. According to his wife's obit, Charles E. Miller was married in Lock Port, Northampton County, just across the river from Lehigh County. Also, I believe he enlisted in the 47th Regt. Pa. Vols., a regiment which was recurited (in part)in Allentown. This would seem to show that perhaps he lived in an area north of Allentown, perhaps, North Whitehall Twp., which is in Lehigh County just across the river from Lockport, Northampton County. Charles was Lutheran. Does the name "Rockpost" ring a bell with anyone? Perhaps the place was not a town but a landmark. I am trying to locate his whereabouts before he moved to Luzerne County. I would appreciate any information. Thanks, Fred
