    3. Bucks Co Hendricks Family, of Bucks Co, is one of the oldest in PA, its progenitors forming part of that little colony that emigrated from the district of the Lower Rhine, in Rhenish, Prussia and Westphalia, and founded Germantown in 1684-5. There under the leadship of Pastorius the founded the 1st Mennonite congregation. Gerhard Hendricks, of Kreigsheim, with wife Sytrie and sons Willhelm and Lendert, daughter Sarah and servant Henrich Fry came to PA in the Francis and Dorothey, Oct 12 1685 with Peter Shoemaker and a number of others, Sarah, the daughter married Isaac Shoemaker. Among those naturalized were William Hendricks and his sons Henry and Lawrence Hendrichs, was one of the first settlers of Skippack township, Montgomery Co In 1728 Towamencin was formed into a township and the tax list of 1734 appears the following names, Paul Hendricks, Lawrence Hendrich, and Henry Hendrick. Leonard Hendricks. Leonard married Elizabeth Turner, d/o Herman, of Germantown. He died in 1776 leaving children, William, Mathias, Herman, Mary and Elizabeth. Paul Hendricks died in 1775 leaving a widow Margaret and son's Paul, William, John, and Peter, and daughters Catharine, Mary w/o Henry Fry, Sophia, w/o Nicholas Godschalk, Susanna, Elizabeth, w/o Herman Hendricks, and Rachel, w/o William Nash Lawrence Hendricks;s wife was Janncke or Jane Tyson, d/o Cornelius, of Germanton, who died in 1716 leaving a widow Margaret and 2 sons, Mathias and Peter and daughters, Barbara, w/o Mathias Cunrad, Alice, w/o John Cunrd, Williemptie, w/o Paul Engle, and Jannicke, w/o Laurentz Hendricks. Paul Engle settled near his brother-in-law, Lawrence Hendricks on the Skippack, and his tombstone is dated 1723 is the oldest in the Skippack Mennonite burying ground. Lawrence Hendricks died in Towamencin, Sept 1753, his wife surviving him. Children; Peter, Benjamin, Cornelius, Margaret, w/o Peter Tyson, Henry, Sedgen, or Seytie, wife of Walter Jansen, William, John, and Mathias. Benjamin married Katharine, d/o William Nash. William died in 176 leaving an only child, Jane, who married Daniel Sampey. Cornelius Hendricks, the ancestor of the Bucks Co branch, was born in Towamencin, about the year 1720. He married prior to the death of his father in 1753 to Mary Bean, who bore him 2 children, Benjamin and Christina Benjamin Hendricks, s/o Cornelius and Mary (Bean) was born and reared in Montgomery Co, and he married Esther Clemens. He died at Hilltowns in 1831. Children; Catharine, w/o Isaac Bechtel, Abraham married Barbara Bean and died in 1820, leaving children, Henry, Benjamin, Susan, and Jacob; Jacob (the great-grandfather) of J. Freeman Hendrick, of Doylestown, married Mary Drissel; John married Mary Alderfer, Mary married Samuel Moyer, George died young, Elisabeth married Benjamin Bergey, Joseph married Elizabeth George, and Susanna married Joseph Swarz. John C. Hendricks, 4th child of Benjamin and Esther (Clemens) was born in Montgomery Co, Dec 20, 1797, and was reared in Hilltowns, Bucks Co, He married April 4 1820 to Mary Alderfer, d/o Frederick, she was born Sept 21, 1786. John C., died at Blooming Glen, Oct 7, 1881 and his wife died Feb 4, 1861. Children; Benjamin married Susanna Leatherman and had 6 children, Frederick never married, Jacob married Anna Moyer and had 3 children, Joseph A., Abraham married 1st Lydia Hunsicker, 2nd her sister, Mrs. Fellman, and 3rd Eliza Moyer, Elisabeth, w/o Amos Pennypacker and had 3 children, Hettie Anne, w/o Jacob Landis and had 5 children. Hendrick, Joseph, son of John C. and Mary (Alderfer) was born May 20, 1827. He married Dec 1, 1859 to Mary Yeakle, d/o Samuel Yeakle, and they had one child, Emma born Feb 11, 1865 and she was the w/o Tobias S. Bissey, and they had one child, Stella May. Recorded at Phila. Co. Henrick, Lowrentz-Towamensin, Co. of Phila. - Tanner. Proved Sept 23, 1753. Wife Yanicken. Children: Peter, Benjamin, John William, John, Mathis, Cornelius, Henry, Margareth, w/o Peter Tyson and Seydgen, w/o Walter Jansen. Exr. Wife and sons Cornelius and Henry. Wits.
