Knauss, Gottried, of Whitehall, settled in the twp about 1745 His first wife, Anna Eva died about 1758, and he married 2nd to Louisa, widow of John Reinhard Benay, who had died Sept 1758. In his will dated March 25, 1763, and probated May 21, 1777, he directed that 200 pds be put on interest for his wife and that his estate be converted into money and divided equally among his children and two children of his wife Peter and Susan Benay, to be paid when they married or rearched the age of 21. Before the exr., his brother George could execute the deed, he died, and the deed was executed by the executors and admins. of Gottried and George. Gottfried was buried in the orchard on his farm at Sheresville. He had 11 children, Elizabeth, Gottfried, Francis, Daniel, Conrad, Henry, John, Paul, David, Eva Catharine, born Aug 15, 1750 and died April 22, 1818 married March 21 1771 to George Yundt, and Juliana Margaret married Felix Griesemer. Gottried Knauss Jr., was born Jan 15, 1742 and died Feb 15, 1806. He married Anna Maria Grieseer. She was born July 11,1752 and died Sept 24, 1823. Children, 1. John Henry, 2. Children, Edward, whose children were(Frank, Allen, Emma, Eliza and Catharine), Magdalena, William a soldier in the Mexican War, died April 15, 1847 at New Orleans, Joseph, Jonathan, married Mary Reichard and had (Charles H of KA), Peter, Sarah married Henry Hiskey, Adaline married Augustus L. Ruhe and Mary married David Stem. Magdalena born 1803 married 1822 to Henry Schaadt. Paul Knauss, s/o Gottfried Sr. was born 1747, died 1808. He married Anna Catharine, d/o John Griesemer. Children; John, 1775, Anna Maria, 1774 married Michael Young, George born 1778 and had a son (Paul born 1805). Elizabeth born 1781 married John Hagenbuch, Jonas, 1784, Catharine, 1786 married John Hower Susanna 1778, Paul and Anna Paul had a son Paul 2 ,who was bor 1790. He had a son Ephraim J. Ephraim J. s/o Paul2, was born May 22, 1819, died Dec 16, 1883. He married Mary Kline. Children; Emma J., Anna, married H.D.Hersh, Clara married D.R. Kline, Milton H., Mary married F.T. Hartzell, Ida, married Martin Strauss. Milton H., was born in Allentown, Sept 5, 1853. He married 1st to Cora Siegfried, who died 1882.
