    1. [PALEHIGH] Jacobi/Yeakel
    2. For those of you stumped on your "Jacobi" line, you might try looking under "Jäckel," or "Yeakel." All of these surnames are derived from the diminutive of the given name "Jacob." "Jacobi" would be the Latinized version, which would indicate Swiss Reformed origins, but "Jäckel," "Yeakel," and variations would be the German versions. In southwestern Lehigh and Montgomery counties, this is a Schwenkfelder name. This might sound far-fetched, until you realize that the name "Pastorius" is the Latinized version of "Schäffer" (shepherd). Hope this helps! 3. Yes, but I, for one, am not too well versed in the earlier names of the German/Dutch/Swiss, of which I have several lines. ----- Original Message ----- From: <nancyrutman@aol.com> To: <palehigh@rootsweb.com> Sent: Friday, March 23, 2007 2:40 PM Subject: [PALEHIGH] Jacobi/Yeakel > For those of you stumped on your "Jacobi" line, you might try looking > under "Jäckel," or "Yeakel."
