    3. Nancy, This George Kohler is near and dear to me as he is the brother of one of my ancestors. And it took several of us a while to sort this out - so bear with me. My ancestor Henry Kieler/Keller/Kohler/Koehler had the following children (from his estate record): Margaret wife of Conrad Moore (my ancestor) Elizabeth wife of Conrad Windermacher (Fenstermacher) George Catharina Christianna (Christina) Henry Hannah Mary Rosanna Maria Catharina was b. 9/19/1732 and Maria Christina was b. 4/18/1734. Catharine m. Jacob Langler or Tangler 10/16/1753. I think Henry m. Anna Margaretha Held 9/5/1756. And we know that Mary (Maria) married Erasmus Hess 8/10/1755. Then I found this in Northampton County Wills: KOEHLER, George, Whitehall, blacksmith 3/7/1797-3/6/1799 Mary Elisabeth w.; sis Margaret-Catharina (w of Jacob Dengler); sis Christina (w of Jacob Miller); "and unto the daughters of sister Hannah Mack; George Frantz s of Jacob Frantz; George Fenstermacher s of half-bro William; nephew George and Peter Smell; "6 sis of my wf Catharina, Sabinah, Margaret, Eve, Barbara and Mary" Peter Rhods trustee. George Rhoads of Northampton X, Nicholas Kern of Whitehall X. Abraham Rinker, Matthias Swink and John Moll W. I realized that Jacob Tangler/Langler was the same person as Jacob Dengler - and that this George Koehler was the brother of my Margaretha Kohler Mohr/Moore. George Koehler's wife was a Kohler, and their relationship, if there is one, is not known to me. Perhaps they are cousins of some sort. None of this answers the question as to why George Frantz and Jacob Frantz are mentioned in George's will, and I have wondered about this myself. Can you tell me anything more about these Frantzes? This half brother William is kind of curious to me too. But this might be a clue: This was posted on the Northampton Co. list: I found Jacob Fenstermacher, the eldest son of Mathias, one of the founders of the Long Swamp Reformed; shows he was the owner of one hundred acres of land in 1776 and in 1790 the census shows he was still living, there is no record of his death. He was married twice, and his second wife (no mention of the first wife) the widow KOEHLER, and he had at least 7 children: William, Anna, born May 16, 1740, died May 10, 1801, she married Michael Bieber, born Feb 1, 1740, died Oct 26, 1832, Christian, Joseph, Jacob, Anna Barbara, and Johannes More information: 1. HENRY1 KOHLER married Anna Catharine (--?--). He died circa 1753. Koehler, Kieler, Kyler, Kehler, Keller. He was also known as Koehler. The name of Kohler is found in Switzerland as early as 1476, when Nicholas Kohler is mentioned as participating in the battle of Murten. Representatives of the family have been prominent in civil life. Jacob Kohler, the ancestor of the Kohler family of Whitehall, came from Muehlhausen. Jacob was the first settler in the vicinity of Egypt. He secured the first warrant for land in 1734. In these warrants his name was spelled Colar. He was also known as Kieler. Henry lived in 1734 at Colebrookdale Twp, Phila Co (now Berks), PA. GEORGE2 KOHLER (Henry1) was born on 6 Mar 1731. He was born on 6 Mar 1731/32 at Colebrookdale, Berks Co, PA. He married Maria Elizabeth Koehler, daughter of Jacob Koehler and Maria Elizabeth (--?--), on 16 Mar 1756 at Egypt Reformed Church, Lehigh Co, PA. He died on 24 May 1799 at age 68. He left a will on 6 Mar 1799 at Whitehall Twp, Northampton Co, PA. Children of George2 Kohler and Maria Elizabeth Koehler were: i. GEORGE3 was born on 22 Jul 1764 at Germantown. He married Susanna Levan on 22 Jun 1792. He died on 3 Oct 1815 at age 51. Joyce Diehl "Nancy J. George Kohler was a prominent blacksmith and in his will, he left everything to his wife's sisters and HIS sisters and also George Smull and George Frantz, s/o Jacob Frantz. Mary Elizabeth had a number of sisters and I have their spouses but these do not prove a relationship with the Frantzes. I was wondering if George Kohler might have a relationship with Margaret Frantz, whose surname is one of the things that seems to remain a mystery through the ages. George Kohler was a sponsor for the baptizm for George Frantz son of Jacob. Does anyone have any ideas on why he would mention George Frantz in his will except for this? Could Margaret Frantz be a Kohler???? or the daughter of one of George Kohler's siste! rs! > , whoever they were? So far I have _______m._Smull, and Hannah m. 3. I MET A WOMAN AT A SCHOOL OF MISSIONS SEMINAR, WHOM MUCH RESEMBLED MY MOTHER'S SIDE OF THE FAMILY IN MANNERISMS. HOWEVER, SHE WAS FROM A TOWN IN WABASH CO., WHERE MY FATHER'S FAMILY WERE. As we sat speaking to one another, I asked her maiden name and she said KOEHLER. KAYLER? I was also familiar with that, as there was one in my hometown back in 1942. But at that time I didn't even know my father had a mother. (She died when he was 5.) And, since my father's ancestry comes out of Northampton & Lehigh and Bucks, there may be somehing in this. Can you give me more specifics? I strongly suspect that many other relatives travelled along with the others. I do know the Rhineharts were there, the CARRs, Fitzsimmons, Wersts, and Barnes were among them. Shraders, also. ----- Original Message ----- From: "jack diehl" <diehl@pcspower.net> To: <palehigh@rootsweb.com> Sent: Wednesday, November 01, 2006 5:50 PM Subject: Re: [PALEHIGH] George Kohler > Nancy, > > This George Kohler is near and dear to me as he is the brother of one of > my ancestors.
