messinger, simon, of washington twp., northampton co., pa., was born in warren co., n.j. july 21, 1822. s/o george and susanna (simmons) messinger, natives of northampton co. his father was a residnet of lower mt. bethel, at the age of 60 he moved to stephenson co., il. of his children, peter in il., miles of washington twp., zachariah, of warren co., n.j., theodore of iowa, simon, subject, and lucinda, w/o adam young. in dec 1856 simon married lovina wilhelm, who was born in northampton co, april 20, 1833,. her parents were john and susan (gum) wilhelm, natives of northampton co., grandfather wilhelm lived for many years in upper mt. bethel, he had moved from nazareh. mrs. messinger was one of 8 children, jacob, of washington twp., lovina, henry of upper mt. bethel, savilia the widow of charles rutt and theobald of upper mt. bethel mr. and mrs. messinger had children; john, isiah, george, flora a., w/o gilmmer spangenberg, susan, w/o herbert h. slamp, william, lucinda w/o william spangenberg and herbert. members of the emanuel evangelical ch. messnger, samuel s., born in northampton co., pa., june 28, 1823, a descendsnt of swiss ancestors.. his great-grandfather, michael messiner emigrated from europe and in 1743 he settled in northampton co. mr. messinger married to sabin, d/o edward b. shimer, of forks twp. children; james e., g. frank, charles s., and hanna c., w/o william stauffer. frank g. messinger, was born in northampton co, nov. 28, 1848, he married clara, d/o william reinheimer, of palmer twp. children; george, lizzie, carie and rosa.
