Lehigh Co. History Christman Family Jacob Christman, native of Wurtenberg, Germany, arrived Sept 16, 1736, aged 25. Settled in Upper Milford, he died in 1761. His widow, Eva Margaret married Francis Wescoe. Jacob Christman had 7 children, Eve, married Melchior Bear, George, Jacob, Susanna, John, Philip, and Henry. George, eldest son became the owner of a 104 acre farm in the township. Philip was a farmer and 6 sons and 3 daughters, John Henry, son of Philip was born Feb 3, 1777, and became a miller in Berks Co. He had 12 children, Jacob, Henry, Jonas, Daniel, Nathan, Samuel, Ephraim, Polly, Susan, Rebecca, Sarah and Lydia. Jacob Christman was a miller near Sigmund's Furnace and he married Elizabeth, d/o George Mattern. Children; James, Charles E., Jacob L., of Macungie, Maria w/o Tilghman Schmoyer, of East Texas, Elisabeth, w/o Henry Hangen of Reading, Elvina, wife of Joseph Schambach, of Norristown, and Sarah, w/o Jonas Hiestand of Zionsville. Charles E. Christman, son of Jacob. He married Emmeline, d/o Reuben ad Sarah (Mohr) Schmoyer of East Texas. Children; James died young, Elisabeth J., William H., born 1867, of Vineland, NJ, who married Hilda Anderson and had 3 children, Sarah A., Charles F., Emma C., who married Oscar Kuhnes, of Allentown. Albert L. born 1873, of Washington, DC. Reuben J., 1875. Calvin E. born July 5, 1878, of NY Christman, Samuel B., The pioneers of this family hailed from Holland, and settled in what is now Monroe Co, prior to the Rev. The family was founded here by two brothers, one of whom having been Henry, who was captured by the Indians, he escaped. David Christman, married Mary Andrew. Children; Elizabeth, Catharine and Thomas, who married Mary Smale, and they had 12 children, among them were; Aaron, Mary, Lucinda, Elizabeth, and Edwin H., who was born in Monroe Co Henry Christman, probably a grandson of one of the immigrants was born in Monroe Co. He married Susanna Correll. Children; Elizabeth, married to Abraham Altamose, John, Samuel, Maria married Jacob Anthony, Christina married Jacob Boyer, Henry and David. John Christman was born June 9, 1809 in Monroe County. He married to Margaret, d/o John and Magdalene (Falstack) Stroll. Children, Edward died at 24, James S., deceased, Emma married Capt. McCormick, Amanda married Jonas Beers, Levi J., Abbie A., married Henry Eschen James S. Christman was born Dec 31, 1845. He married Ellen, d/o Samuel and Martha (Fulton) McLaughlin, on Oct 7, 1875. Children; Howard, Ira, who died age20, and Samuel B. Members of Mickley Church Samuel B., was born at Hokendauqua, July 4, 1889. He and his wife, Sarah Schuler Scott, are members of Mickley Church.
