Hittle, infant daughter of Frank K. and Christie E. ReWohl Hittle, aged 2 months and 20 days. Funeral services private at the residence of the parents, No 905 Walnut Street on Thursday afternoon at 2 o’clock. Interment in West End Cemetery. Richard H. Hittle Tuesday, April 2, 1895 Obituary Richard H. Hittle, of Trenton, N. J., died at his home Saturday morning after a long illness from pulmonary trouble. Deceased was a son of Charles H. Hittle, of this city. His father was with him during the last days of the son’s illness. He was aged 46 years, 11 months and 6 days. He left Allentown ten years ago for Trenton, where he was employed as assistant clerk in the Roebling Wire Mill. Mr. Hittle was married in this city, his wife, nee Bechter, and two daughters, and a son, surviving him. He was a brother of Dr. Hittle, who died in the West during the blizzard of 1887. The funeral will be held this afternoon. Beulah Hoch Monday, October 14, 1895 Obituary Beulah Susanna, daughter of Samuel and Melosena Hoch, aged 1 month and 20 days, died yesterday morning. Charles Hock Tuesday, July 16, 1895 Column Charles Hock met death in the canal. A sad drowning accident occurred at Catasauqua yesterday afternoon at about 1:30 o’clock. Charles, a son of Samuel Hock, an employee of the Bryden House Shoe Works, after carrying dinner to his father at the works, went swimming in the canal back of the rolling mill along with a number of other boys. According to the reports of the boys, they noticed nothing wrong until he was discovered floating dead. The boy was 11 years of age and resided with his parents on the West Side. Coroner Yost was notified and held an inquest over the body at 1 o ’clock. The following jury was empanneled: Harry I. Guth, C. E. Schockler, Jr., William Bartholomew and Jonas Bartholomew. The jury rendered a verdict of accidental death. The body was removed to the home of the parents and the grief of the mother was pitiful to witness. Louisa Hoffman Monday, June 3, 1895 Obituary Louisa Hoffman, the ten months old daughter of Joseph Hoffman, died on Saturday afternoon after a few days illness. The funeral will be held tomorrow afternoon at 2:30 o’clock with services at the house. Charles R. Hohle Tuesday, November 12, 1895 Death Notice Hohle, At Fullerton, November 11, 1895, Charles R. Hohle, son of Alfred and Rose Hohle, aged 2 years, 2 months and 10 days. Funeral on Thursday forenoon at 10 o’clock from the residence of the parents on Second Street, Fullerton, to which friends and relatives are respectfully invited without futher notice. Julius Holstein Saturday, March 30, 1895 Obituary Julius Holstein, an old and well-known resident of his city, died yesterday morning at his home, No. 471 Linden Street, after a short illness, aged 59 years. Deceased was born in Rheinpfalt, Bavaria. He came to America 49 years ago. He spent some time in Pittsuburgh and then settled at Macungie, then known as Millerstown. From that town he went to Breinigsville, where he followed his trade of saddler. In 1850, he came to Allentown and engaged in the saloon business at the place now conducted by Edward Bickel. Of late years, he was a tree agent. Deceased was a good musician and was a meber at various times of the Macungie and Allentown Bands. His wife, who was Miss Polly Klotz, of Macungie, survives with these children: Richard, George, Thomas, Alfred, Mrs. E. J. Martz and Lizzie of this city, and Mrs. A. C. Berlin of Columbus, Ohio. Lizzie is at present visiting the latter. Charles Holtz Monday, March 11, 1895 Obituary Charles Holtz, died Friday at his home, No. 335 North Third Steet of consumption, aged 27 years. He was a furniture carver and a popular young man. He is survived only by his father. Funeral at 2 p.m. today. August Holtze alias Doctor He was a burglar On Thursday of last week an unknown amn was killed on the central Railroad in this city while jumping from a coat train. As no one identified the body it was buried at the poor house. Deterctive Smith has however, learned all about the man from a former associate. The dead man’s name was August Holtze, alias “Doctor” a nortorious professional burglar and leader of a band of thieves. The detective had a warrant for him for participating in the robbery of Eberhard’s jewelry store in this city. His partner was Henry Wagner, who served a term in the Allentown Jail and was subsequently taken to Belvidere, N. J. where he is serving a three years sentence. Joseph Holveck Friday, March 15, 1895 Obituary Joseph Holveck, the well-known saloon keeper at No. 439 Gordon Street, died at 7:30 last eveing. He was sick for about six weeks. Deceased was about 44 years old. His wife and six children, Katie, Maggie, Annie, Josie, Amiel and Francis survive.. He has had charge of this saloon for the last three years. Formerly, he was proprietor of the Kronhieser saloon on Front Street. Death Notice Holveck, In this city, March 14, 1895, Joseph Holveck, aged 40 years, 8 months and 12 days. The funeral will be held Monday forenoon from his late residence, No 430 Gordon Street. Relatives, friends and St. Joseph’s Beneficial Society are invited to attend without further notice. Services in Church of the Sacred Heart of Jesus at 9 a.m. Burial at German Catholic Cemetery, after services. Susanna Homan Friday, December 6, 1895 Obituary Susanna, wife of Charles E. Homan, No 804 Elm Street, Reading, died suddenly of heart disease yesterday, aged 34 years. Deceased was indisposed for three months but her ailment was not considered serious. She ate a hearty supper Wednesday evening and retired early. About 1 a.m., she awoke her husband and told him she felt so cold, whereupon he assisted her down stairs and placed her in a rocker near the stove. Mr. Holman sat with his wife for a time, when she insisted that he should retire, which he did. When he went down stairs at 5 a.m., he found her in the same position as when he left. He tried to arouse her and was horrified to find her dead. The body was still warm and Dr. Becker was sent for, but she had already passed away. Deceased was the daughter of Joseph Roberts, of this city, who survives, together with these brothers and sisters: Orville, Walter, Ida and Louisa, all of this city. There were not surviving children. Deceased was a meber of the First Reformed Church. Charlotte Horn Friday, November 1, 1895 Obituary Mrs. Charlotte Horn, widow of Lewis Horn, died Wednesday at her home in Weissport, of inflammatory rheumatism, aged 72 years. She leaves three sons and five daughters. One daughter is the wife of Rev. S. M. Leopold, of Bethlehem and a son, Levi, is the Treasurer of Carbon County. The funeral will take place tomorrow afternoon at the Weissport Evangelical Church. Presiding elder W. A. Leopold will preach in German and Rev. John White, pastor of the church, will preach in English. Elias Horn Monday, April 1, 1895 Obituary Elias Horn, an old resident of this city, died at his home, No. 630 Chew Street, of apoplexy at 3:10 p.m. yesterday. He was sick for the last year and in bed for four months. For twenty-one years, he was employed by the city to cart ground from new streets and other carting. He was 74 years, 8 months and 9 days old. He moved into town 25 years ago from Upper Saucon. He was a shoemaker, but seldom worked at the trade. His wife, Leannah, and two children, Miss Amanda Horn of this city and Wilson Horn of Hellertown, survive. Deceased was a member of Allen Lodge, No 71, I. O. O. F. Funeral on Thursday forenoon at 10 o’clock. Services in Salem’s Reformed Church. Rev. G. W. Richards will officiate. Interment in West End Cemetery, after the services. Elmira Hottel Thursday, May 23, 1895 Obituary Elmira, wife of Eastburn E. R. Hottel, died Tuesday in her home No 118 Chew Street, of consumption, aged 36 years. Her husband, who is a school teacher in Hanover Township, and four children survive. Deceased was a member of Chew Street, M. E. Church. Funeral on Saturday. Death Notice Hottle, In this city, May 21, 1895, Elmira, wife of Eastburn R. Hottle, aged 37 years. Funeral from the residence of her husband, 118 Chew Street on Saturday morning at 9:30 o’clock to which the friends and relatives are respectfully invited without further (Elmira Hottel) notice. Services in M. F. Church, Chew Street, between Second Street and Ridge Avenue. Interment after services in West End Cemetery. One says Hottle, and the other Hottel.
